Así se presentaba el SHARC en el Salón de Los Ángeles. Y como tal, se ha llevado el premio al mejor diseño para el coche patrulla perfecto para 2025. Obviamente, 2025 "está a la vuelta de la esquina" (nos separa de él tanto como el tiempo que ha pasado desde el 2000 prácticamente), así que dudamos que en década y media corta podamos ver aparatos como este "patrullando la ciudad", como cantaba el Fary. Pero soñar es gratis. As proof of this, Jaguar released a video showing the XFR-S tearing up a windy, European mountain road in close to a minute of hardcore driving footage. The big blue cat has the same great exhaust note of the XKR-S, and the driver puts all of the car's 550 horsepower to work demonstrating the handling - and drifting - abilities of the new XFR-S. Year-over-year growth rate slowed markedly because Toyota regained its normal hybrid sales pace about this time of year in 2011 after sales figures were hampered for much of last year by the effects of the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami, which hindered supply. General Motors also came up big, more than doubling year-earlier alt-fuel sales to 3,854 units. While Chevrolet Volt sales were approximately cut in half from October, the model's 1,519 units sold represented a 33 percent increase from a year earlier, and the sales put the Volt over the 20,000-unit threshold for the year. GM mild hybrids such as the Buick LaCrosse and Regal and the Chevrolet Malibu continued to have big year-over-year gains, while GM's SUV and pickup hybrid sales were almost triple those in November 2011. As for Nissan, the Japanese automaker, which had its second-best-ever sales month for the Leaf in October, nearly matched that total last month with 1,539 units sold, more than double a year earlier. For the year, Nissan continued to close the gap from last year's sales, as its 8,330 units sold are 4.5 percent less than November 2011's sales. Eco-minded vehicles from German automakers also did well in November. Volkswagen clean-diesel vehicle sales surged 28 percent from a year earlier to 7,182 vehicles, while Audi boosted sales by six percent to 515 units. Porsche hybrid sales were up 5.4 percent to 175 units. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi sold 42 of its all-electric i vehicles, marking that model's best month since May. Yet Voisin automobiles, the iconic French luxury brand from the 1920s and 1930s, needs to display just 17. Gabriel B. Voisin began producing cars in 1919. As an aviation pioneer (he is credited with developing Europe's first heavier-than-air engine-powered aircraft capable of sustaining controlled flight) who eventually focused his talent in the automotive sector, his designs were technically detailed, aerodynamically efficient and with an art deco aesthetic - it is easiest to simply consider them stunning. While more than 10,000 automobiles were assembled in the suburban Paris factory, fewer than 150 are known to still exist. Amazingly, the famed Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, California, has more than a dozen of his masterpieces (plus original artifacts) on display through April of 2013. This unprecedented show is the first opportunity to see so many examples of Voisin's work in the United States. Notable examples include the 1935 Type C25 Aerodyne that won the coveted Best of Show award at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance as well as a reconstruction of the 1923 Type C6 Course "Laboratoire" race car that experimented with a double wedge-shape airfoil for improved aerodynamics. The curators opened the doors to Autoblog the other day, so we sent Drew Phillips in with his camera for a closer look. The pictures are amazing, but the real beauty of a Voisin is in the small details. Filed under: Motorsports, Coupe, Performance, Videos, MISC The crew at Hennessey has finally gotten around to showing the world just how quick the Venom GT really is by pulling off a 0-230 mph sprint on runway. The best run took a scant 19.96 seconds to stick the speedometer at 228 mph. That's the kind of speed that will peal your eyelids back if you aren't careful. Of course, it takes some pretty lofty power figures to generate that kind of velocity. The Venom GT benefits from a General Motors LS9 V8 engine pulled from the wicked Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. After some healthy tweaking, including abandoning the factory supercharger for twin ball bearing turbochargers, the 7.0-liter V8 spits up to 1,244 horsepower to the rear wheels. We're just happy to see all that thrust get put to task. Según dicen para conseguir estos resultados se combinan diversos aspectos entre los que podemos destacar el número de averías y el coste de reparación. Lo más curioso del estudio es que de los 10 primeros vehículos que aparecen en el estudio como los más fiables, siete son de origen japonés y los otros tres europeos. He is a member of the Swedish Royal Family, he dates a model and he has been voted by Forbes as one of the "20 Hottest Young Royals." If that were not enough, he is a fairly successful racecar driver. The latter has earned him a spot on the Volvo Polestar racing team for the Swedish Touring Car Championship. The prince will be piloting a race-spec S60 in the 2013 STCC campaign. Starting in 2008, Prince Carl Philip began competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup, where he placed as high as 11th. In 2010, he finished first in the Porsche GT3 Endurance competition, and most recently, he placed fourth in the 2012 Swedish GT GTB. As his motorsport career up to this point suggests, the prince is quite serious about racing and the STCC is the next step up. According to Prince Carl Philip, "There is no tougher championship in Sweden and at the same time as I have respect for it, it motivates me greatly." Let us count the ways. Actually, you should count them yourself after watching the video below, because the more we say, the more we'll spoil it. Got it? Okay. Now, the point that this video is making is as applicable to battery-powered electric vehicles as well as hydrogen fuel cell cars. Still, it's lighthearted look at one thing that makes advanced technology vehicles different than today's fossil fuel-burners. The CEP describes itself as "a network of companies pulling together to introduce hydrogen as a fuel." Hace unos días recordábamos el Mercedes 190E con motivo de su trigésimo cumpleaños. Todos recordamos ese modelo clave en al historia de Mercedes. Fue uno de los primeros diésel realmente silenciosos, los 190E 2.5-16 EVO de DTM que rivalizaban con el BMW M3, son varias las versiones especiales de ese coche. Pero se nos pasó por alto una rareza, la carrocería 3 puertas del 190E 2.6 City. En realidad no fue un modelo creado por Mercedes-Benz y ni tan siquiera autorizó la transformación (por eso no llevan la estrella de tres puntas en las fotos). Pero existió, aunque con unas ventas anecdóticas. El 190E City fue una transformación de Schulz-Tuning e ideada fijándose en el éxito del Volkswagen Golf II. Schulz presentó el coche en 1990. Partiendo de la base de un 190 E de 4 puertas, anulaba las puertas traseras y eliminaba el tercer volumen adaptando los pilotos y el portón trasero del Clase E break. No estamos seguros, y casi no queda documentación para confirmarlo (una pena, pues en los 80 y 90 Europa estaba repleta de creaciones originales que quedarán en el olvido), pero todo apunta a que la batalla era más corta. De este modo se ahorraba tener que tocar el pilar B del coche y conseguía así una carrocería compacta. Para completar su creación, el 6 cilindros del 190 E de 2,5 litros subido a 2,6 litros. Desarrollaba 204 CV y 230 Nm. Schulz era un habitual de este tipo de realizaciones, tenía a su activo un Serie 6 descapotable, un Serie 5 break (cuando no existían, claro), un Mercedes G de 6 ruedas, un Range Rover cabrio e incluso un Mercedes 190 descapotable. There's just something about the country's hardware from the 1960s and '70s that flips all the right switches for us, and the lovely Skyline sits at the top of that heap. Our friends at Petrolicious seem to share that infatuation. The film crew recently sat down with Ivan Jaramillo outside of San Francisco to take a look at two very special members of his collection. You see, Jaramillo doesn't just own one Skyline. He owns a pair of them, and, unlike some collectors, he uses the cars as they were intended to be enjoyed.Petrolicious spent some time filming Jaramillo's Hakosuka and Kenmeri tearing through redwood forests with their triple Mikuni carbs barking at the treetops. El Ibiza Cupra está equipado con el motor 1.4 TSI de 180 CV en combinación con la transmisión secuencial de doble embrague DSG de siete relaciones. Según declara SEAT, es capaz de alcanzar los 100 km/h desde parado en 6,9 segundos mientras que el consumo medio se mantiene en términos muy bajos (5,9 L/100 y unas emisiones de 139 g/km de CO2. | Posted: 04 Dec 2012 01:49 PM PST  Spy Shots: Next-gen Hyundai Genesis spied for the first time Filed under: Spy Photos, Sedan, Hyundai, Luxury Don't let those Kias in the back of this photo fool you - the camouflaged car you're looking at here is the next-generation Hyundai Genesis. Remember, we've already seen Kia's new rear-wheel-drive flagship - the oh-so-suavely named Quoris - so this big roller is indeed the successor to Hyundai's Genesis sedan. Codenamed "DH," the Genesis will ride on an updated version of Hyundai's rear-wheel-drive architecture, though as we've reported several times, all-wheel drive is also likely in the cards for the new model. Other DH enhancements will be the shedding of some weight - as much as a couple hundred pounds - and a sportier tuning. Design wise, the new Genesis will get a much sleeker, more upscale look - something that's evident even with all of the camo glued to this test car. Up front there are revised LED running lamps, swoopier styling, and more elegant taillamps out back. Powertrain options aren't expected to change too much, with the 3.8-liter V6 and 5.0-liter V8 carrying over with only some simple massaging. Eight-speed automatic transmissions will be fitted across the board (like they are now), though a rumored ten-speed automatic 'box is even said to be in the works. | Posted: 04 Dec 2012 01:48 PM PST  Smith Electric Vehicles will build big electric vans in Chicago Filed under: EV/Plug-in, Manufacturing/Plants, Legislation and Policy Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Smith Electric Vehicles are working together to create an electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Chicago. Smith Electric Vehicles was drawn to the city by the mayor's voucher system designed to accelerate conversion from diesel to zero-emission electric vehicles, a large number of fleets that are interested in going electric and development incentives offered to Smith. Smith is saying it will create "hundreds of direct and indirect jobs" there. The Chicago Department of Transportation has a $15-million incentive program set up to encourage companies to modernize their fleets, converting some to electric power. The initial $15 million for this program is funded by resources from the federal Congestion Mitigation Air Quality program. It provides vouchers to assist companies in reducing their conversion costs. Through its program and similar federal incentive programs, Chicago has helped deploy 404 cleaner vehicles, mainly compressed natural gas vehicles, along with 202 electric vehicle charging stations. Chicago has been committed for a while to bringing electrified vehicles and a charging infrastructure to the area. Mayor Emanuel says the Smith partnership is a smart way to create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs and to boost the already rapidly growing battery and electric vehicle sector in the city. As former chief of staff to President Barack Obama, Emanuel was involved in pushing for policies that integrated job creation with environmental concerns and energy security. This will be the third US city where Smith has locations set up, including its headquarters in Kansas City, MO, and a manufacturing facility in New York City. Smith has been looking for ways to grow its capital investments and audience. Not long ago, the company was looking to go public on the Nasdaq exchange, but has canceled that plan. New owners bought the decades-old company from its UK-based parent company in 2011. Smith has done an impressive job of breaking into the electrified fleet market. Customers include Frito-Lay, FedEx, Staples, TNT, Sainsbury's, Coca-Cola, DHL and the US military. | Posted: 04 Dec 2012 01:01 PM PST  Official: Lexus bringing next-gen IS to Detroit Filed under: Detroit Auto Show, Sedan, Lexus, Luxury With ES, GS and LS models all now minty fresh at your local Lexus showroom, it was only a matter of time before we had official word that the company's IS had a replacement in the wings. That word has come down today in an ultra brief press release that names the date and venue that the sheet will be pulled on the new car: January 15th in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show. Don't pay too much attention to the test mule in these dusty spy shots, we're told that the small Lexus has been "completely redesigned" from the inside out and that it has drawn inspiration from the sultry LF-CC concept car. In LA we learned that the LF-CC has been green-lit for production, so we'd expect to see a lot of cues from that car (in the gallery below) lifted directly for the all-new IS. New fang-face, here we come. BMW vendió en noviembre 31.213 vehículos, con un fuerte incremento de ventas del Serie 5 con un crecimiento de 64%. Mercedes-Benz, por su parte, registró 30.135 ventas en el mismo periodo lo que supone un incremento de 13% con respecto a 2011. Aquí también, el incremento de ventas de la berlina del segmento E fue crucial, pues el Clase E subió 59% (8.126 unidades).Lexus sigue recuperando terreno con un incremento del 17% con respecto al mes de novimebre de 2011, es decir 22.179 unidades vendidas. Con estos resultados, el liderazgo de Mercedes se está reduciendo. Al empezar noviembre, Mercedes había vendido 2.748 coches más que BMW, mientras que esta ventaja se reduce ahora a 1.849 vehículos. Las dos marcas alemanas compiten por ser la premium más vendida de Estados Unidos. En 2011, BMW superó a Lexus y a Mercedes-Benz. Lexus fue la marca líder de su segmento en Estados Unidos durante 11 años consecutivos, hasta que en 2011 fue superada por BMW. El terremoto de Japón afectó a la producción de Lexus y obligándole a revisar a la baja sus ventas por no poder satisfacer la demanda.
