Eso es lo que nos deja ver el teaser que Toyota ha publicado sobre su modelo especial para el Salón de Detroit que arranca a mediados del mes que viene, y donde estaremos, como siempre, en directo, cámara en mano. El nombre del concepto es muy español: Furia (qué recuerdos), y anticipa la versión de producción de lo que podría ser el nuevo Corolla basado en la plataforma del renovado Auris, para el mercado estadounidense. The descriptively dubbed "Dancing Cop" has been exhibiting near-criminal levels of flair for holiday motorists long enough to be considered a genuine attraction in the New England city. Truth is, Officer Lepore hasn't been a full-time peacekeeper since he left the force to go into business with his brother, way back in 1988. Four years later, Providence officials asked Lepore to return on a 10-day contract, to help draw more shoppers to the downtown area during the holiday season. The Dancing cop has been so successful since then, he's been asked back every year to bust a move for the season. This is the same basic tester that we've seen in previous sets of spied images, though showing a bit more skin than in past outings. BMW has removed some of the obfuscating fake body panels from the i3, giving us a clearer view of the small car's taught and rather complex surfacing. Further, we've got a much better idea of what the production car's "face" will look like now, as the headlights have been somewhat less completely taped over, showing us the swept shape of the lenses. The vehicle seen here is reportedly the range-extended Hybrid, rather than the pure EV. As you may recall, one of the concessions made by automakers in accepting government assistance back in 2009 was a requirement to discontinue the use of private jets in lieu of standard commercial airline flights. The issue first reared its head after the three auto CEOs from Detroit flew in private jets to Washington to outline why the industry needed bailout money. Not so smart. Now that The General has bought 200 million of its own shares back from the government, the private jet restriction has reportedly been lifted. The Wall Street Journal reports that General Motors has no current plans to buy or lease any private jets of its own. The planned SRT8 model comes in response to feedback from Aussie buyers, many of whom have expressed interest in a car with the 300 SRT8's performance, but without all of the high-end features and the big sticker price. The Chrysler 300 STR8 currently sells for around $66,000 Australian; the intended price for the new, stripped down version of the car is reported to be under $60k Australian. That would make the car an even stronger competitor for rear-drive, V8 powerhouses like the HSV Clubsport, which was recently reintroduced at $64,990 AU. Russ Ruedisueli of Chrysler Australia tells the Brisbane Times that the lower-spec 300 will do away with things like adjustable suspension, adaptive cruise control and forged alloy wheels, while still offering the massively strong 6.4-liter Hemi V8. In fact, this "core" model SRT8 figures to be a bit quicker than the loaded version, thanks to a lighter curb weight. Tesla is giving the Model S vehicles earmarked for the Netherlands a base price of about $96,000 and a Performance version of about $129,000. The company said on its blog that the prices, which mark about a $30,000 premium on US versions, factor in transportation costs, import duties and other "minor business expenses" and factor out the $7,500 US federal tax credit. In explaining the price jump, George Blankenship, Tesla vice president of worldwide wales and ownership experience, writes, "Our goal is to make the same level of profit per car no matter where it is ultimately delivered around the world. We do not think it is right to seek higher profits from customers in some countries just because other companies do." Take that, other companies. European left-hand-drive vehicles will go on sale in the late spring, while UK right-hand drive units will start being produced by the end of the year. Now the crew is back with another supermoto infomercial, and while the 2012 clip may not be as intense as last year's, the video is no less entertaining. While our French is about as rusty some of the vehicles in our stable, the basic plot seems to follow Sylvain Bidart as he frantically races to catch a plane to make a race. After failing to run down his first flight on the runway, Bidart has to enlist the help of a private pilot, but not before scoring the man some much needed spray lubricant. This, of course, serves as a perfect excuse to go sliding through warehouses and manufacturing facilities in search of the much needed spray can. We also now know that the Impala will have some very closely related competition, at least for a little while... Buried at the very end of a press release about the manufacturing of the Chevrolet Camaro returning to US soil yesterday, was this nugget about the current-generation of the Impala: "The consolidated line at Oshawa Assembly will continue to produce the current generation Chevrolet Impala and Equinox until June 2014." That's right, long after the better looking and fully modern 2014 Impala is on sale in dealerships, the old girl will still be getting churned out up in Canada - most likely being sold as a fleet-only special for the remaining run. If you'll recall, this situation wouldn't be unique for Chevy - the sixth-generation Malibu stayed in the marketplace badged as a "Malibu Classic" for some time after the seventh-gen car went on sale. The dual-Impala strategy should help preserve residual values of the all-new 2014 model, while at the same time allowing GM to further profit from the old Impala, whose tooling has long since been paid for. And while the Japanese automaker has released this video teaser as a way to whet our appetites, we don't know a whole lot about what, exactly, is in store. So, it's a sedan, it's orange, it has some carbon fiber accents like the rear lip spoiler you see in the image above, and there are funky, concept car-spec lighting elements at both the front and rear. It may or may not live in fire based on the footage we see here, too. That's all we know for now, and our best guess is that this previews some sort of new sporty sedan for the Japanese brand. (Toyota could stand to add a little excitement in its lineup, after all.) We'll have the full details closer to the concept's debut at the Detroit Auto Show in a few weeks. Y esto supondría un problema importante para los concesionarios y fabricantes, que todavía mantienen elevados niveles de stocks en las campas. Sin embargo parece que podría alargase en el tiempo. Según ha comunicado el ministro de Industria, Energía y Turismo, José Manuel Soria, una vez finalizado el plan de incentivos se estudiará su repercusión y las posibilidades de extenderlo en el tiempo. Para ello tendrán que analizar si hay disponibilidad presupuestaria, algo que no está del todo claro ahora que los recortes están llegando a todos los sectores. Soria tiene claro que el Plan PIVE tiene un papel importante para la recuperación del sector, y teniendo en cuenta que se apoyarán en la industria del automóvil para generar trabajo y mejorar la economía española, casi podríamos dar por seguro una nueva etapa. Vauxhall is offering a 30-day holiday-themed "satisfaction guarantee" on the Ampera. Within that time period, drivers can return the car with "no questions asked." Vauxhall continues to promote the car's 50-mile all-electric range and its 360-mile electric+gas range as well as the fact that the plug-in is exempt from London's congestion fees. Vauxhall also offers a 100,000-mile warranty on the car's components plus an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty on the battery. In March, the Ampera won the European Car of the Year Award along with the Volt. | Posted: 20 Dec 2012 12:03 PM PST  Quick Spin: 2013 Ford Mustang RTR Filed under: Aftermarket, Coupe, Performance, Ford, Quick Spins There are more varieties of the Ford Mustang than coffee concoctions at Starbucks, yet enthusiasts always seem eager to embrace one more. Vaughn Gittin Jr., the driving champion most famous for his sideways antics in Formula Drift, developed the Mustang RTR as a dealer-installed appearance package and performance upgrade to the popular Ford coupe. I spent some quality time in the Race Red two-door pictured above, a 2013 Mustang RTR Spec 2. Bundled as a complete RTR package, the $11,995 option (add it to the cost of the donor - in this case a $34,300 Mustang GT Premium) adds a Ford Racing engine tune, Ford Racing adjustable shocks, 1.0 inch or 1.5 inch lowering springs, RTR four-way adjustable front and rear sway bars, RTR strut brace, RTR adjustable Panhard rod, RTR rear chassis brace and a RTR axle back exhaust system. The performance upgrades to the 5.0-liter V8 are limited to a Ford Racing Tune, K&N air filter and RTR exhaust. Combined, they add about 16 horsepower for an estimated output of 436 horses and 397 pound-feet of torque (with a 60 foot-pound boost on the low side of the tach!). The upgraded exhaust - complete with RTR-badged black tips - proved surprisingly enjoyable, adding a nice, deep note without droning on the highway. In stock form, the Mustang GT is plenty quick (4.5 seconds to 60 mph) so the minor engine upgrades are best considered icing on the cake. High-performance Falken Azenis FK-453 rubber is wrapped around very attractive RTR 19- by 9.5-inch wheels (painted matte charcoal or silver with black lug nuts). The summer rubber sticks very well, but I found brake feel, and possibly stopping distances, suffered with the RTR cross-drilled and slotted rotors (keep in mind that the stock pads have less friction surface with this configuration). In my estimation, the factory Brembo brake upgrade is a much more effective performance upgrade. Many aftermarket setups fail in terms of suspension tuning, but not on this RTR. The four-way adjustable suspension allows the driver to dial-in their own preference. It is stiff, but still comfortable enough to tackle LA's broken pavement (we found the 2011 Mustang RTR considerably harsher). Inside the cabin, I found far too many RTR badges and logos - on the shift knob (a nice ball), the floor mats, speedometer, tachometer, 12v plug and on a numbered serial plate signed by Vaughn Gittin Jr. stuck on the passenger-side of the dash. Add those to another half-dozen RTR badges on the outside, and it was RTR overload. The exterior cosmetic package is aggressive and clean - very nicely done. All-inclusive, it includes a front chin and rear spoiler, rear diffuser, rocker splitters, license plate surround with ducts, fender badges, rear deck appliqué and vinyl hood/side stripes. Unfortunately, I found the front splitter annoyingly low. Thankfully, despite being easy to scrape (even when driven with care), the unpainted polymer was flexible enough to take a little bit of abuse without cracking. The rear windows on this particular vehicle, configured for the press fleet, were covered with an extremely dark film. Nearly opaque, it severely reduced outward visibility (so much for seeing any law enforcement in the rearview mirror) and made the cabin feel claustrophobic, even on a sunny day. 2013 Ford Mustang RTR originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 20 Dec 2012 14:58:00 EST. According to a Bloomberg report, former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above) and ex-CFO Holger Haerter have finally been charged with market manipulation over the exercising of options as part of the German sportscar manufacturer's ill-fated attempt to take over the much larger VW. That failed bid eventually resulted in the reverse coming true - VW swallowing Porsche. The charges leveled by Stuttgart prosecutors come after a three-year investigation centered around allegations that Porsche execs made a concerted effort to increase the company's share in VW to 75 percent in preparation for a hostile takeover. Porsche had previously told its investors on at least five occasions that it had no intention to buy VW. Portions of the investigation have subsided, according to prosecutors, citing an inability to prove certain improprieties with a "necessary degree of certainty." The number of charges is down to 5 from a previous 14 counts regarding "information-based market manipulation." For its part, Porsche has been quick to point out that the investigation centers around two men who are no longer with the company - Weideking and Haerter stepped down in July of 2009.
