En cuanto al acumulado del año, entre enero y octubre se han matriculado 524.758 unidades nuevas, lo que representa un aumento del 10,1% en comparación con el mismo periodo del 2011. En esta cifra están incluidos también los comerciales. Si bien en mercados como el español el segmento A no tiene una gran aceptación, en otros países son una pieza clave para seguir creciendo. En Alemania por ejemplo son muy valorados y mes a mes son muchos los que optan por uno de ellos. Según los últimos datos de ventas del mercado alemán, SEAT aumentó sus matriculaciones en un 25,6% en comparación con el mismo mes del año anterior. Hay que tener presente que este incremento se ha dado en un momento en el que el mercado general se ha estancado con un crecimiento de sólo el 0,5%. En total han sido 6.131 unidades las vendidas por la firma española, superando a otras como Citroën, Peugeot, Fiat, Toyota y Nissan. Si bien el modelo estrella de SEAT sigue siendo el Ibiza, la llegada del Mii está consiguiendo captar nuevos consumidores alemanes. En lo que llevamos de año, la española ha crecido en un 10,7% mientras que el mercado general retrocede un 1,6%. Sin duda, son buenas noticias. The German carmaker has told its US dealers they can offer discounts up to $5,000 on the GL-Class SUV for "VIP customers," a distinction to be determined by general managers. The program also includes $750 off C-Class, $2,250 for E-Class, $3,000 for GLK-Class and $3,275 for S-Class vehicles (which also includes 2013 models). "We limit the number of cars" in the Customer Advocacy Program, says Mercedes spokeswoman Donna Boland in a Bloomberg story. "It is not carte blanche." While BMW beat both Lexus and Mercedes in 2011 US luxury car sales, Bloomberg says Mercedes leads so far this year by 5,221 units. The Coda Sedan all-electric vehicle was put on Motor Trend's short list for its 2013 Car of the Year award, marking a much-needed victory for the fledgling Los Angeles-based automaker. Motor Trend praised the sedan's "subtle but undeniable intelligence" and added that the car "overdelivered in performance." While the publication acknowledged the car's less-than-stunning styling, it reasoned that Coda's decision to put more resources into the battery technology was a good one. Coda's been trying to spur sales in the US and last month said it'd give a $552 rebate, or about a year's worth of recharges, to new buyers. The company sold its first cars in March. The Sedan receiving an 88-mile single-charge rating from the EPA, which is about 15 miles more than that of the Nissan Leaf. Is a potential customer of a new family sedan going to rely completely on Consumer Reports, or are they willing to go with their own gut feelings and neighbors' recommendations?Bloomberg has an interesting new report highlighting cars that are selling well in spite of not receiving high marks from Consumer Reports. One such vehicle is the 2012 Honda Civic, which has been largely derided by the automotive press. Yet sales of the Japanese compact are on pace to beat out vehicles like the acclaimed Chevrolet Cruze. One criticism offered for CR's methods is their approach of putting all types of vehicles through the same type of testing. The Chrysler Town & Country as well as the Dodge Grand Caravan were given low marks for their performance in the slalom-the same slalom in which sports cars are tested. How important is that in buying a minivan? While cars from Korea and the United States are increasingly lauded by the automotive community, owners of brands like Honda and Toyota remain fiercely loyal. In a time when some critics suggest that "there are no bad cars," customer loyalty and brand equity play a large part in the buying process. Korean and US automakers may be building some terrific vehicles now but the Japanese automakers have history on their side, and most buyers are still heavily weighing brand reputation in their decision-making processes. It might be difficult convincing a consumer that the Civic is a substandard vehicle, just as it may be difficult to overcome someone's preconceived notions that a given automobile is an inferior product just because of its badge. If, in fact, there are "no more bad cars," then what's the role of professional evaluators in the buying process? Salvo que vivas bajo una piedra, sin televisión, a estas alturas de la película seguro que has visto ya la campaña publicitaria del nuevo Volkswagen Golf, en la que se nos preguntan diversas cosas bajo el mismo precepto: ¿qué canción elegirías si sólo pudieras escuchar una el resto de tu vida? ¿a qué persona elegirías para besar exclusivamente el resto de tu vida? Y todo rodea la pregunta final, ¿qué coche elegirías si sólo pudieras tener uno en toda tu vida? El Golf, sin duda, es un buen candidato, porque es el súmmum del coche alemán completo: amplio para una familia, capaz, versátil, relativamente económico, bien equipado, bien acabado, relativamente potente... Y si es un GTI, pues mejor que mejor. Pero creo que esta misma pregunta, para los amantes del mundo del motor, tiene mucha más miga. The NYC cab fleet is currently a mix of hybrid vehicles and comparatively fuel-hungry Ford Crown Victoria sedans. According to the report, at many taxi companies, cars are assigned to drivers first-come, first-serve, so what they're driving on a given day comes down to the luck of the draw. One cab driver said that refueling a the V8-powered Ford costs about $45 a day, while the the hybrid taxis can go a couple days before needing to gas up. That's the message from the new ad campaign for the Lexus LS, in which imaginary young LS owners jet-set around the globe attending fashion shows and parking their LS sedans on the roof for a cup of Joe. It's a little cheesy, but in fairness, any commercial that attempts to define a lifestyle by a vehicle tends to be that way. Now walk down that red carpet and note how bad the valet service is at the end of the piece. The commercial, aptly named Flashbulbs, touts the new Lexus flagship and features the all-new Lexus LS F SPORT model. (You know it's sporty because Lexus made the word sport all caps.) The sport campaign by Lexus is going to continue as the brand attempts to move away from its older owners and grab some customers who aren't hitting the early-bird special at the local diner. A second spot, Paddleshifters, continues the campaign, taking our couple on even more interesting adventures with every upshift. | Posted: 03 Nov 2012 06:46 AM PDT  Cor-Vegge puts veggie oil to the Corvette test at LeMons Filed under: Biodiesel, Green Culture, Vegetable Oil, First Drive, Racing There might be only one veggie-powered Chevrolet Corvette in the world, and it's part of the 24 Hours of LeMons endurance racing series that showcases $500 beater cars. "Spank," the owner and builder, has pieced together the Cor-Vegge on a a C4 Corvette body, powered by a 1980s Oldsmobile diesel engine and fueled by waste vegetable oil. The 350-cubic-inch diesel V8 engine puts out 77 horsepower, and the Cor-Vegge's 20 gallon gas tank keeps its running up to five hours on the track. The fuel is stored in a large single tank, where Spank makes the vegetable fuel by draining oil from the tank, adding some diesel fuel to warm up the engine, and then adding back the vegetable oil. A pair of heat exchangers have been installed to keep the veggie oil flowing smoothly. The Cor-Vegge has raced twice so far in its C4 Corvette body, built sometime between 1984 and 1996. Spank is protected by a professional roll cage and new front disk brakes. For those interested in buying the unique Cor-Vegge, Spank is offering it for $3,500 with a $550 deposit for the upcoming Chuckwalla season-ending race, the third one that his veggie racer will be entering. Prueba de ello es esta curiosa, espectacular e inesperada galería que te traemos de los aparatos llevados hasta Las Vegas por los chicos de RK Concepts.
