Odiarle en el mundo de las cuatro ruedas es la consecuencia lógica ante el desastroso acto de gestión que hizo con TVR. Después de comparar la marca por capricho, cerrar su fábrica, despedir a sus empleados, fallar en el plan de resurrección, para definitivamente matarla, ahora nos enteramos, gracias a PistonHeads, de detalles bastante más negativos. Y es que Nicolay ofreció a Powers Performance (anteriormente conocida como TVR Power, editores del vídeo que te espera tras el salto) quedarse con los moldes del Sagaris y compañía. Estos habían sido transportados hasta Dresden, donde Smolensky pretendía retomar la producción. El problema es que el coste del transporte (de Dresden a Reino Unido, cuarenta trailers), era desorbitado para las capacidades de Power Performance, y la rentabilidad que podía sacar de ello. Lo que no esperaban los chicos del taller especializado en TVR es que Smolensky iba a mandar a la chatarra los moldes, cosa que, al parecer, ha sucedido. Vamos, que no volveremos a ver un Sagaris o un Tuscan salido de los moldes originales. Built in North America as well, the 2013 Outlander Sport Limited Edition gets numerous black trim pieces outside, such as the center bumper, side mirror housings, wheel arch trim and skirting and roof rails. It sits on special Argent wheels. Open the doors and the darkness continues with available Dove Grey and Black leather seating, and black leather parking brake sleeve, all accented by aluminum brake and accelerator pedals. On this model the six-way power driver's seat is standard. The sole performance mod is a new balancer shaft that makes for quicker acceleration without any penalty in the mileage rating. Posted: 29 Nov 2012 05:35 PM PST Exclusive: Nissan Leaf's November, December sales likely to climb back to 2011 levels Filed under: EV/Plug-in, Nissan, LA Auto Show, USA Nissan is apparently past the problems that plagued sales of its all-electric Leaf earlier past year and is likely to either surpass or be close to matching its 2011 sales numbers for November and December, according to a company executive at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Nissan ran into supply issues after it expanded distribution to all 50 states from seven earlier this year. That meant that California, which accounts for about 60 percent of US Leaf sales, was short on inventory, Nissan North America spokesman David Reuter told AutoblogGreen. "We starved the California market a bit, and that impacted our sales," said Reuter, adding that many states scaled back on EV incentives for 2012. For November and December, "we'll be much closer to parity compared to calendar year 2011," Reuter said. As for 2013 upgrades, Reuter didn't give details on performance improvements, but he did say that the Leaf would "continue to advance from a technological standpoint." Nissan also expects to start producing US Leafs at its Smyrna, TN, factory, within the next couple of months.Through October, Nissan's 6,791 Leaf sales were 16 percent lower than the same time period in 2011, but October's monthly sales were up 86 percent from a year earlier. It's in this space, sometimes referred to internally as "mini SEMA," we can count on getting to look at the physical instantiation of automotive imagination run rampant. Unfortunately, as almost all of the booths are either still in the process of being set up or unmanned altogether, there's little to no detail to be had about most of the stuff on display. So rather than pepper you with, you know, facts and stuff, we invite you to simply enjoy the attached gallery of images on their own merits. Posted: 29 Nov 2012 04:49 PM PST Los Angeles: 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander unveiled with new look, standard seating for seven Filed under: LA Auto Show, Crossover, Mitsubishi The 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander wears the new face previewed at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, and adds a host of features on top of its seven standard chairs. Ditching the shark-nosed Lancer-inspired front has reduced drag, increased use of high-tensile steel means a 200-pound weight loss and the reworked 2.4-liter four-cylinder paired a CVT will all result in what Mitsubishi says is one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the seven-passenger segment. Looks-wise, around the rest of the vehicle come sharper sculpting and more character lines. Reaching higher inside, the IP is now soft-touch, and a heavily restyled interior with woodgrain accents is more somber, but more elegant. Mod-cons have gone up a step, too: the 2014 Outlander getting a next-generation nav system, a power tailgate that can be opened from the driver's seat and safety tech like Lane Departure Warning. The vehicles are designed to evoke three distinct decades in American cultural history: the 1950s, the 1960s and the 1970s, says the automaker. The '50s Edition (front in the above image) is painted classic black and it arrives with a tan interior and chrome dog dish hubcaps. The '60's Edition (middle in the above image) has Denim Blue paint to remind owners of the period's blue jeans two-tone seats (Volkswagen calls them "groovy") and spoked alloy wheels. Lastly, the '70s Edition (back in the above image) is distinguished by its Toffee Brown paint and chromed wheels, to remind owners of the sophisticated side of the decade. The radical concept, visualizing what a rugged vehicle will look like more than a decade in the future, takes some of its styling cues from the Mercedes-Benz G-Class - a capable off-roader, despite its luxurious appointments. Conceptually, the Ener-G-Force utilizes a "hydro-tech converter" to convert water into hydrogen for its fuel cell power. Emitting nothing but water vapor out of its exhaust pipes, the SUV has a range of about 500 miles and is nearly unstoppable thanks to its four wheel-hub electric motors that are electronically controlled to precisely handle any terrain. Adding to the Ener-G-Force's capabilities is its Terra-Scan system, highlighted by a 360 degree topography scanner that automatically adjusts its suspension on the roll. But more impressive than anything else, and really upping its "wow" factor, is the fact that Mercedes-Benz invested the time, effort and resources to build this cool design study - a "concept car" in the traditional sense of the term - that has zero chance of seeing production (those huge plastic wheels don't even turn). Now entering its seventh year in showrooms, Mazda has again treated it to a mild mid-cycle facelift (it was also updated for the 2010 model year). Physically speaking, the front and rear fascia receive familiar Kodo design enhancements that better align the CUV with its siblings (namely, the CX-5 and Mazda6). Inside, the cabin is the automaker's next-generation infotainment and audio package with a 5.8-inch touch-screen display, Bluetooth connectivity (audio and phone) and navigation (based on TomTom technology). Other audio enhancements include HD Radio, a Pandora interface and SMS audio receipt and delivery. The 2013 Mazda CX-9 is in showrooms today. In this video, we see a few more details of the new Corvette than what we saw in the first teaser a couple weeks ago such as a few interior detail shots and a quick glimpse of the car's undercarriage. With the video focusing on the electric integration of the C7, our best look of the interior revolves around the new gauge cluster with a 200-mile-per-hour speedometer and an all-digital screen housing a large, centralized tachometer and an information display. Later in the video, Chevy shows a quick shot of the new Corvette's rear suspension setup as the car undergoes its final testing. Posted: 29 Nov 2012 03:14 PM PST Los Angeles: Honda Accord PHEV: 115 MPGe for $39,780 Filed under: EV/Plug-in, Hybrid, Honda, LA Auto Show This morning, Honda announced a bunch of impressive numbers for the upcoming 2014 Accord Plug-In Hybrid at the Los Angeles Auto Show. To wit: 115 MPGe, estimated 49 city/45 highway/47 combined fuel economy and an MSRP of $39,780. During the announcement, the Accord PHEV was called the "highest fuel economy of any plug-in vehicle, period." While for this may hold true for some customers, the fundamental nature of PHEVs means that actual mileage will vary widely, depending on the number of miles one can travel on the energy stored in the battery and the owners driving cycle. For instance, the Accord with a cord can go about 13 miles before it starts burning gasoline, while the 2013 Chevy Volt - which is rated at "only" 98 MPGe and sports a similar $39,145 price tag - eschews running its internal combustion engine for around 38 miles. Of course, the Volt can only seat four, so perhaps a closer competitor might be the Ford Fusion Energi. It is rated at 100 MPGe, is said to be good for 20 initial gasoline-free miles and has a base price of $39,495. The Accord plug-in will become the first production vehicle in America to meet the SULEV 20 requirements. The Accord Plug-In Hybrid goes on sale January 15, 2013 in California and New York. Posted: 29 Nov 2012 03:14 PM PST Fashion designer Jeremy Scott gives Smart Fortwo Electric some wing bling [w/video] Filed under: LA Auto Show, Smart, Electric If you were to gaze upon the Smart Fortwo Electric Drive and ponder what you might add to sort of, you know, set it off a bit, you probably wouldn't consider adding a pair of wings. That's because you are not Jeremy Scott. He, on the other hand, would do exactly that. And has. That's right, that winged wonder you see pictured above is not some sort of Redbull-induced hallucination. Rather, it is the result of a creative collaboration between Mercedes-Benz Cars Advanced Design Studios and the aforementioned famed fashion designer called, appropriately enough, the Smart ForJeremy. And, it has just made its debut at the LA Auto Show. Besides the faux-feather flourishes that light up when the brakes are applied, the outward appearance of this 2013 limited special edition is tarted up with a custom set of propeller-inspired wheels with just enough shiny to balance the chromed finish of its tridion shell, mirrors and, um, "eyebrows." Likewise, the interior is not exactly a study in subtlety. An aeronautical art deco theme is in full effect within the confines of the white, nappa-leather-swathed cabin, with its yoke-like steering wheel serving as the dominating focal point. If that's not enough to remind that you are in a road-going flight of fancy, it also boasts custom four-point seat belts and enough chrome trimmings scattered about to require sunglasses for safe piloting. While we can't say exactly what kind of flap it will cause in showrooms - we estimate a price tag ranging somewhere from "Are you freaking kidding me?" to just north of "Would you have any Grey Poupon?" - we don't expect more than a very small flock to be offered for sale.Scroll down below for all the available details in the official press release, along with video including footage of the Smart ForJeremy on the wing. Posted: 29 Nov 2012 03:14 PM PST Los Angeles: Fashion designer Jeremy Scott gives Smart Fortwo Electric some wing bling [w/video] Filed under: LA Auto Show, Smart, Electric If you were to gaze upon the Smart Fortwo Electric Drive and ponder what you might add to sort of, you know, set it off a bit, you probably wouldn't consider adding a pair of wings. That's because you are not Jeremy Scott. He, on the other hand, would do exactly that. And has. That's right, that winged wonder you see pictured above is not some sort of Redbull-induced hallucination. Rather, it is the result of a creative collaboration between Mercedes-Benz Cars Advanced Design Studios and the aforementioned famed fashion designer called, appropriately enough, the Smart ForJeremy. And, it has just made its debut at the LA Auto Show. Besides the faux-feather flourishes that light up when the brakes are applied, the outward appearance of this 2013 limited special edition is tarted up with a custom set of propeller-inspired wheels with just enough shiny to balance the chromed finish of its tridion shell, mirrors and, um, "eyebrows." Likewise, the interior is not exactly a study in subtlety. An aeronautical art deco theme is in full effect within the confines of the white, nappa-leather-swathed cabin, with its yoke-like steering wheel serving as the dominating focal point. If that's not enough to remind that you are in a road-going flight of fancy, it also boasts custom four-point seat belts and enough chrome trimmings scattered about to require sunglasses for safe piloting. While we can't say exactly what kind of flap it will cause in showrooms - we estimate a price tag ranging somewhere from "Are you freaking kidding me?" to just north of "Would you have any Grey Poupon?" - we don't expect more than a very small flock to be offered for sale.Scroll down below for all the available details in the official press release, along with video including footage of the Smart ForJeremy on the wing. Sitting on stage at the LA Auto Show for its official US debut, we finally get to see what the latest Subaru looks like through our lens. Going on sale in the spring, the 2014 Forester will be powered by two four-cylinder boxer engines. The base Forester 2.5 models are expected to get highway fuel economy of up to 32 miles per gallon, while the sportier XT model with a new turbocharged, direct-injected 250-horsepower 2.0-liter engine still gets a decent 28 mpg highway. Ford is screaming from the Transit Connect Wagon's optional panoramic roof that it's "anticipating up to" 30 highway miles per gallon for buyers choosing the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine. The other powerplant choice is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, both connected to a six-speed transmission. Smaller families can go with the five-seater version, while the seven-seater will be available on a longer wheelbase for larger clans. Trims are XL, XLT and the familiar Titanium, all of them boasting sliding side doors, fold-flat second and third rows and payload capacities beyond 1,200 pounds. There are two rear-entry options to boot, either a rear liftgate or side-hinged cargo doors if you insist on being reminded of the commercial roots of your minivan. In this video, we see a few more details of the new Corvette than what we saw in the first teaser a couple weeks ago such as a few interior detail shots and a quick glimpse of the car's undercarriage. With the video focusing on the electric integration of the C7, our best look of the interior revolves around the new gauge cluster with a 200-mile-per-hour speedometer and an all-digital screen housing a large, centralized tachometer and an information display. Later in the video, Chevy shows a quick shot of the new Corvette's rear suspension setup as the car undergoes its final testing. After first showing us the car in a Candy Apple Red color at the Detroit Auto Show, Lexus has brought its LF-LC Blue (in a deep ocean blue) from Down Under to LA. Aside from the new color, there's nothing new for us to see here. Posted: 29 Nov 2012 01:39 PM PST Los Angeles: 2013 Honda Crosstour tiptoes onto the floor Filed under: LA Auto Show, Crossover, Honda, Design/StyleHonda has pulled the sheet on the redesigned Crosstour here in LA, showing a car that is more refined, perhaps, than the outgoing model, but still not exactly what we'd call "a looker." The usual suspects have been addressed in this refresh: the Crosstour's front fascia, fenders and side skirts have all been tweaked. The 2013 Crosstour will be available with both a 2.4-liter, 192-horsepower four-cylinder engine, and a more powerful, 278-hp 3.5L V6. Both engines are from Honda's new Earth Dreams family of powerplants and deliver better fuel economy - 22/31 city/highway miles per gallon for the four-banger - than last year's offerings. Whether or not you care for the Crosstour's new mug (take a look at it on Honda's LA show stand in our attached gallery) you have to give it up to the company for making it easier than ever to buy, thanks to a lower MSRP. The Crosstour now starts at $27,230, which is $525 less than last year's model.
