| Posted: 23 Nov 2012 01:13 AM PST  El Fiat 500L Trekking se dejará ver en el Salón de Los Ángeles Filed under: Fiat, Monovolúmenes y MPV El 500L Trekking, una versión campera con altura sobre elevada y protecciones plásticas externas que no tiene relación directa con el llamado 500X (y del que sabemos, de boca de su jefe de diseño, que cambiará de nombre antes de venderse), tendrá su presentación global en el Salón de Los Ángeles la semana que viene. Allí podremos ver la nueva variante del 500L al tiempo que se presenta la versión para norteamérica del modelo "normal". Esta contará de salida con el motor MultiAir 1,4 de 160 caballos en gasolina, una mecánica que en Europa todavía tardará en estar disponible. Tendrá además los acentos de plástico negro europeos pintados del color de la carrocería. Otros cambios de detalle serán las luces de conducción diurna con tecnología LED incorporadas en los grupos ópticos, y que en Europa no veremos de nuevo. "This" in this case is creating postcards using a BMW M6 as the printing press. A pressurized ink system was mounted in the trunk, which spayed ink up at the rear tires. It was controlled via a switch in the cabin of the turbocharged BMW coupe. Mullin then took the M6 out onto the track at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, where pieces of paper were placed in straight lines. Matt just had to spray the ink and drive over the paper, but keeping a high-powered machine such as the M6 in a perfectly straight line is still a little challenging. You'll just have to check out the video to see how he did. When it was all over, the results of this little experiment were cut up into one-of-a-kind postcards, which BMW is sending out to M enthusiasts across the country. When it came to the compact Dart, the organization's testers thought the vehicle offered a quiet cabin, solid-feeling chassis and nimble suspension, but the new model ultimately fell short of the coveted rating due to powertrain issues. The institute's reviewers found the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to be underpowered and noted "drivability issues" when the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four was paired with the optional dual-clutch transmission (some of our editors disliked it paired with the six-speed manual). CR also dinged the latter powerplant for sounding "raspy." For what it's worth, we think the forced-induction engine offers an excellent and playful exhaust note, but that's just us. As for the XTS, CR lauded the car for its luxurious cabin, but the vehicle's experience was dulled by its finicky CUE infotainment interface. Overall, the big Cadillac scored much higher than its cross-town rival from Lincoln. While testers found the American luxury sedan to offer a quiet ride and quality fit and finish, they felt the MKS delivered a "cramped driving position, ungainly handling, uncomposed ride, and limited visibility." Ouch. At the end of the day, both cars fell short of rivals from Japan, Germany and Korea. Filed under: Concept Cars, SUV, Bentley, Luxury In concept form, the Bentley EXP 9 F had neither the styling nor the name to impress us when we first saw it earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show, and while we already knew some sort of design change was imminent, we're unsurprisingly now hearing that a name change is also in the cards. Automobile Magazine is reporting that the eventual production Bentley SUV will get a complete redesign from what we saw in the EXP 9 F, and it will wear a new name as well: Falcon. The article says that Luc Donckerwolke, Bentley's newly appointed director of design, is giving the SUV a complete redesign from the concept vehicle, which goes against what we last heard of the vehicle in August that a "radical redesign" was not in the cards. Donckerwolke has been on the design team at various Volkswagen Group automakers since 1992, helping to pen such memorable designs as the Lamborghini Gallardo and Murciélago, but now he is tasked with giving Bentley an SUV worthy of its lineup. Según Renault sí. Parece que el ZOE podría eclipsar parte del protagonismo del nuevo Clio IV y la dirección de la empresa ha decidido posponer el lanzamiento del eléctrico. Según Carlos Tavares, uno de los máximos responsables de Renault, el nuevo ZOE se retrasa hasta el año que viene para no interferir en la campaña de lanzamiento de la última generación del Clio. Tavares comenta que ambos modelos pertenecen al segmento B pero mientras que con este último se pretenden generar beneficios gracias al elevado volumen de ventas, con el eléctrico se perderá dinero con cada unidad entregada a nuevos clientes. El retraso se da un momento en el que la firma está presentando bastantes novedades y con un escenario algo critico por la mala situación económica por la que están pasando muchos de los países del viejo continente. Además comenta que el lanzamiento de un modelo, si es seguido por otro muy cercano en el tiempo, pierde cierta repercusión. De todos modos Tavares promete que entregará las llaves del primer ZOE eléctrico a su propietario antes de que finalice el año. While we won't be seeing the production version of the city electric, the good news is that each iteration of the concept does bring us closer to the production version. For example, the i3 on display in New York as part of BMW's "Born Electric" tour last week still had glass doors. It's pretty obvious that the production version won't keep this feature. The new interior (first seen at the recent Paris Motor Show) is also more in line with what will be on sale a year from now. The message here? BMW is getting real with its i line of electric vehicles (EVs). BMW's first two EV programs - the Mini E and the Active E - were both glorified test programs, but now BMW will want to sell larger numbers of plug-in vehicles, with the i3 due in late 2013 and the i8 in the first half of 2014. The clearest sign that BMW is serious is the carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) LifeDrive body that was on display in New York. Following that sad event, it did not take long for attention to quickly turn to the future of the performance brand. Given the significance of Shelby American in the aftermarket and performance worlds, that makes some sense. According to Autoweek, business partner John Luft was told by Carroll, to "Keep Shelby American alive," in his waning hours. Following his late chief's request, Shelby American is set to roll out new products at the North American International Auto Show in January, as well as the Chicago and New York shows. So we know product is on the way, but what can we expect? The report was foggy on details, but claimed the Las Vegas-based performance outfit would look towards the Ford EcoBoost family of engines, and to wringing more power from smaller displacement. Shelby has already taken advantage of forced induction with smaller engines, in the form of the 475-horsepower supercharged V6 in the Shelby GTS. The GTS is considered an entry-level Shelby, with a $35,000 price tag, making it accessible to more enthusiasts. Also part of the plan will be the continued relationship with some 2,300 Ford dealers, through which Shelby American markets parts. Both Roush and SVT compete for this business. Meanwhile Jim Farley, global VP of marketing at Ford, issued a statement that Shelby, "will continue to influence Ford performance cars for many years to come." | Posted: 22 Nov 2012 11:14 AM PST  This is the much better looking Lexus HS 250h that we won't get Filed under: Hybrid, Sedan, Japan, Lexus, Design/Style, Luxury The Lexus HS 250h was put to rest in the US at the beginning of this year, but it is apparently being offered a way back onto the mortal coil in the Japanese market. This is reputedly a picture of what the JDM-spec entry-level Lexus hybrid sedan will look like, and what a difference 11 months makes. It appears that only the front clip changed, the brand's new design language giving it much more visual oomph than the hyped-up hybrid Corolla look we were offered. It doesn't hurt that the front treatment virtually clones the 2013 Lexus ES, the blacked-out center bar in the spindle grille adding some aggression to the smaller package. The rest of the slow-seller's exterior looks to be carried over largely as it was when it left us, and a report by Lexus Enthusiast indicates the model's resurrection is scheduled to go on sale in Japan by the end of this month.This is the much better looking Lexus HS 250h that we won't get originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 22 Nov 2012 13:59:00 EST. Sin duda alguna destaca por llevar al mundo de las dos ruedas la combinación de distintas soluciones vistas en los quads árticos, buggys y motocicletas de neumáticos "gordos". Su especial estética parece claramente inspirada en los "Monster-Trucks" y son las enormes ruedas Maxxis Bighorn en llanta de 14 pulgadas similares a las que emplean algunos ATVs y su doble óptica frontal los encargados de dotarle de una gran personalidad. Para su mecánica Tartarini ha recurrido a un bloque de 750cc de origen Dinli (empresa taiwanesa) con un sólo cilindro y 50 CV de potencia. La transmisión corre a cargo de una caja de tipo CVT y embrague centrífugo y, opcionalmente, podrá contar con marcha atrás y desarrollos más largos.
