Esto quiere decir que nos quedan casi tres meses de espera. Pero los chicos de General Motors quieren que estemos salivando hasta entonces, y para ello se han propuesto plantearnos "precalentamiento extensivo", en forma de vídeo teasers como el que te espera tras el salto. No se aprecia el coche completo, pero sí que se logran ver detalles, como las aletas delanteras ventiladas por rejillas, las colas de escape, o un breve vistazo a los grupos ópticos delanteros. | Posted: 22 Oct 2012 10:02 PM PDT  Motorsports: 2012 ALMS champions crowned at Petit Le Mans Filed under: Motorsports The American Le Mans Series headed to Braselton, GA this past weekend for the 15th annual Petit Le Mans and the conclusion of its 2012 season. While some of the championships had already been decided earlier in the season - the Corvette team had already captured the manufacturer, team and driver championships for the GT class prior to the race, for example - there were still several titles up for grabs. The Muscle Milk Pickett Racing team, having dominated much of the ALMS season in the fastest P1 class, needed to finish just 70 percent of the race distance to take home the crown, as did the Level 5 Motorsports team in P2. While Petit Le Mans remains one of the most important events on the North American motorsports calendar, there were some big names absent from the field at Road Atlanta. Peugeot, having dropped funding for its Le Mans program, wouldn't be around to defend their overall wins from the past three years. Audi, with the World Endurance Championship dropping Petit Le Mans from their calendar and no Peugeot to battle, decided to forgo the trip across the Atlantic as well. Even so, the field of cars for Petit Le Mans remained strong thanks to the European Le Mans series making the 1,000 mile endurance race their season finale as well. The Europeans proved to be quick, with the Rebellion Racing Lola-Toyota taking the overall pole position and the Morgan-Nissan of Oak Racing took the top qualifying spot in P2. Adding some extra flair to this year's race was the addition of the Nissan DeltaWing, making its first competition appearance in North America. The driver wrapped up three seasons and 33 races with Mercedes-Benz, but saw his final professional event cut short by contact with Timo Schneider. The collision spun Coulthard and put him out of the race. Schneider received a drive-through penalty for his part in the dust-up. Coulthard has won 13 F1 grand prix events during his 15-season career, though his efforts in DTM have been somewhat less fruitful. The driver only managed to bring home 16 points during his time behind the wheel, but that doesn't seem to be the reason behind his departure. If anyone knows what it takes to to move a project like Curiosity from concept to touch down, it's her. Over the course of the quick segment on the rover program, host Bradley Hasemeyer learns about the extensive real-world testing that went into bringing the rover to life as well as the staggering amount of computer modeling it took to prepare for the rover's descent. While the Curiosity program is only supposed to last two years, NASA is currently looking into ways to bring samples from the red planet back to Earth. That will be a substantially more ambitious project, but with the brightest minds in the field on the case, we wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility. We don't think so, and while we're woefully short on details - powertrain, price, performance - we can at least bask in the glow of a nicely filmed teaser video. The first of many, we imagine. Let's take a minute to dissect what's going on here. We see artists scraping away at a clay model, followed by a few detail shots of a heavily camouflaged prototype, test drivers strapping into five-point seatbelts and some high-speed racetrack footage. Oh yeah, don't forget the pounding soundtrack. So far so expected... Digging a little deeper, though, we spot some interesting vents that look like shark gills, some eggcrate mesh (front fascia bits, perhaps?), a brief glance at the new C7 badge and a bunch of quick and blurry shots of what may be flush headlights, quad exhaust tips and a quarter panel. According to local TV news reports, the Western Michigan LG Chem plant that makes the battery packs for GM's plug-in hybrid does not have enough work to keep all of its workers busy.WOOD TV 8 recently reported from the scene (video available below) and talked to LG Chem workers and ex-workers about the card games being played, the movies being watched and the lack of batteries being made. "As much as they want to work, there's nothing to do," the report says. For months now, up to 40 workers "would just sit in there during the day," one former employee said. "It's really sad that all these people are sitting there and doing nothing, and it's basically on taxpayer money." When the plant in Holland, MI was officially announced in 2010, LG Chem was clear that there would be a training period. Specifically, the company said it "estimates that over 400 jobs could be created by 2013 and many of the people will be hired and trained in advance of the plant being operational." Thanks in part to a $151-million grant from the Recovery Act, LG Chem hired 100 of the 200 workers at the plant. Some of them now say they are furloughed for one out of every four weeks and haven't made a single cell for a production Volt. In WOOD TV 8's words, the workers, "say the last of the materials needed to make battery cells, including chemicals, was shipped back to Korea.... Workers say they made test battery cells, starting late last year, perhaps 100,000 or more, and that they did a good job. They say they produced perhaps 4,000 a week. But, they say, that worked ended for the most part last December." The Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board, which oversees the federal stimulus program, told WOOD TV 8 it would look into the situation. WOOD TV 8 was not able to reach anyone in an official plant capacity and emails from AutoblogGreen to GM and LG Chem were not returned by press time. Our spy photographers nabbed the winged sedan as it showed off a spate of new body work, including a more aggressive front fascia, reworked side skirts and, of course, that prominent rear spoiler. The tail end also gets a new diffuser tucked under the rear valance. Word has it Jaguar has slipped the 550 horsepower supercharged V8 from the XKR-S behind the headlights of the four-door XFR-S. That should make for a plenty spritely sedan capable of giving competitors like the Audi RS6, BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG something to think about. We're all for a hustler that can move a family of four around town at Mach 1, especially when it comes with a Jaguar badge in the grille. So far, there's no word on when we can expect to see the XFR-S touch down, where it will be available or what sort of price tag it will carry once it debuts. So it comes as little surprise that Automotive News is reporting that Subaru is currently developing a turbocharged version of the 2.0-liter engine currently found under the hood of the much-loved but somewhat underpowered 2013 BRZ. AN's unnamed sources indicate that this engine will use a twin-scroll turbocharger and a new direct-injection system that will help give the engine an estimated 280 horsepower and torque that could be in excess of 250 pound-feet... still being sent to the rear wheels. The turbo'd BRZ will reportedly be making its debut for the 2014 model year, but it isn't clear if Subaru will simply call the car a BRZ Turbo or if it will finally deliver the BRZ STI that many enthusiasts have been clamoring for since the BRZ STI Concept hit the scene in 2011. The probe will look at about 112,000 Patriots from the 2011 and 2012 model years. NHTSA says some owners report their vehicles' engines are completely shutting off at speeds above 65 mph. In at least eight cases, the drivers could not restart the vehicle, and in at least one incident, the stall involved a crash that injured two people. If the investigation turns up enough cases, the agency will issue a recall of the vehicles. La filial local ha tardado casi cuatro años en lanzar esta popular carrocería sobre la última generación del modelo. Si estéticamente el cinco puertas es un coche de diseño agraciado, el de tres mantiene el equilibrio general y añade un toque más juvenil. Pese a ello, no hay grandes concesiones estilísticas. La oferta de motores será idéntica en ambas carrocerías, incluyendo variantes BlueMotion que reducen significativamente el consumo gracias a ciertas modificaciones. El Gol con carrocería de tres puertas comenzará su comercialización de manera inmediata en el mercado brasileño. Exagon Motors' Furtive eGT battery-electric sports car, which was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2010, hit speeds of 149 miles per hour at Nürburgring's North Loop (Nordschleife), courtesy of racecar driver Sabine Schmitz, according to Green Car Congress. The car, which is powered by two electric motors made by Siemens and batteries by Saft, puts out about 400 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. Each of the Furtive's electric motors weigh just 115 pounds. The Furtive eGT will go into production next year and will have a single-charge range of between 178 and 224 miles, depending on who's doing the measuring. There is also a range-extending option.In August, Schmitz referred to the Furtive as "just brilliant" after testing the car, adding that it's like "floating on a cloud." Then you may want to check out the ARK Performance "Alpine" concept coming to this year's SEMA show. Ark began with standard 201-horsepower Hyundai Veloster Turbo and, using various bits from the Ark catalog, ramped power up to 232 horses with a torque boost to 240 pound-feet. The extra oomph comes from an ARK exhaust, test pipe and turbo up-pipes, a K&N intake, Nitrous Express Proton kit, Ark oil cooler and a Koyo radiator. Beneath the coupe is an Ark coilover system, big brake kit and strut bar. The wheels are Gram Light 57Xtremes. But SEMA is as much about looks as it is about fast. An Ark/Adro body kit and CF Rally Wing was covered in Custom Pearl White by Beyond Coachworks. Penned specifically for the Brazilian market, the little creation rides on the same platform as the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Encore. Buyers can look forward to sinking their teeth into a 1.4-liter, four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission as well as a MyLink infotainment system. GM is on a war path to expand its B-segment offerings in South America, and the Onix is the latest fruit of those efforts. The manufacturer has shoveled $5 billion into Brazil since 2008, according to CEO Dan Akerson, and the Onix was entirely engineered and designed in the country. El modelo ya ha sido cazado sin camuflaje durante una sesión de fotos publicitarias en Islandia. Ahora, es el turno de la variante AMG del CLA de ser cazado en el Nürburgring. A pesar del completo camuflaje, se aprecian el doble escape, los faldones y un frontal más agresivo. Y detrás de las llantas de aleación, los frenos de alto rendimiento. Al igual que el A45 AMG, el CLA AMG contará con un 4 cilindros de 2.0 litros sobrealimentado por turbo. Se habla de una potencia de 335 CV y más de 400 Nm. Será un tracción integral y un cambio automático de doble embrague de 7 relaciones. No matter where you turn or what sort of mayhem you unleash on the countryside, there is no law enforcement. Fortunately, EA Games is ready to serve up the newest foray into the Need For Speed universe with NFS: Most Wanted. As you might suspect, the gameplay focuses on illegal street racing and the law's attempts at maintaining order. EA Games has turned out the first ad for the title, and if the game play is as entertaining as the clip below, we'll want a turn at the controller. The add pits an array of would-be lawbreakers against the boys in blue in a little real-life showdown, but it takes one hooligan in a Ford Focus ST to get the party started.
