The 15-minute segment traces Glickenhaus' progression from movie director to money manager and finally to Ferrari collector and creator of the P4/5 Competizione. The hardtop coupe has the dark distinction being Ruth's last Lincoln. The legendary ballplayer was struck with cancer in 1947 and, after a brief period of remission, eventually succumbed to the disease. Before that, however, the Ford Motor Company honored Ruth for his efforts at promoting Little League Baseball by giving him this '48 Continental. Ruth spent many of his final days traveling behind the wheel of the Lincoln to various speaking engagements. Shelton found the Continental in the Texas Museum of Automotive History, and while he typically favors muscle cars, the collector couldn't pass up the chance to own the significant piece of baseball's past. Researchers use air, water to make gasoline Filed under: Emerging Technologies, UK Here's a potentially really cool discovery that combines air and water, and it ain't Perrier. UK-based Air Fuel Synthesis (AFS) says it has found a way for those two basic elements to be combined to make fuel. In a nutshell, the company electrolyzes water to produce hydrogen, which is combined with carbon dioxide via a fuel reactor to make a fuel-type liquid. And that fuel can be blended with gas, diesel or jet fuel. Describing this in more detail would require finding our 10th grade chemistry books (it's complicated), but the company says it's making as many as 10 liters of liquid fuel a day from a small demonstration setup. AFS is putting some money into the project - about 1 million British pounds ($1.6 million) during the past two years, according to a BBC video that can be seen below - to bring the technology to commercial scale. With most Chrysler plants running at or near full capacity, the Melfi facility will probably build the new Fiat and Jeep SUVs for export to North America. The final decision could come as soon as this weekend. The new small Jeep is expected to replace the Patriot and/or Compass, which are both produced in Chrysler's Belvidere, Illinois plant.Automotive News says Fiat sales are at their lowest since the 1970s, and the European auto market as a whole is expected to see its biggest decline since 1993. While the Festival of Speed is exactly what the name states, the Goodwood Revival is an experience unlike any other. More than just vintage racing, nearly everyone in attendance dresses in period-correct clothing, and you are immersed in a different era. Now, if only we could have something like that here in the States. It appears that may be in the works, as Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance founder Bill Warner is in talks with Goodwood's Lord March to bring an event like the revival to the United States. According to the report from Auto Minded, the aim is to have an event take place in the fall, after the conclusion of Europe's vintage events. The report suggests that the Florida town of Fernandina Beach, to which Warner has strong ties, is an ideal location. The town has a municipal airport that can provide facilities for vintage aircraft as well as the layout for a race course. (The FAA would need to approve the location.) Additionally, Fernandina Beach is close to luxury resorts that befit the concours/vintage-racing set. While there are several prominent Concours events, such as Pebble Beach. Amelia Island and Greenwich, as well as racing events in Lime Rock and Monterey, the US does not have a revival-type event that throws you into the past the way that Goodwood does. Now the automaker is getting ready to introduce two low-volume variants of the 6 Series Coupe and the X6 crossover. The 2013 BMW 650i Coupe Frozen Silver Edition and 2013 BMW Individual X6 Performance Edition are both limited-production models aimed at showing off exclusive tailoring available through BMW Individual.The first of these to hit the showrooms will be the BMW Individual X6 Performance Edition, which will be limited to 100 total units split between xDrive35i and xDrive50i models. The former starts at $81,695, the latter at $92,895. BMW Individual adds its exclusive Pearl Silver metallic paint, 20-inch wheels and black chrome exhaust tips on the outside, while the cabin gets black Alcantara and leather appointments with orange contrast stitching. Carbon Leather Wrapped Trim from BMW Individual adorns the instrument panel and center console. Additional power comes via the M Performance Package, while otherwise optional equipment packages are made standard to up the level of amenities. Limited to just 55 total units, the BMW 650i Coupe Frozen Silver Edition is available with rear-wheel-drive for $99,295 or xDrive for $102,965. Cuenta esta semana Autocar algunos detalles más sobre las mecánicas que se esconderán bajo el capó de los Cupra y Cupra R del León de SEAT. El motor estaba claro que iba a ser el mismo EA888 de dos litros, que también verá su lugar en el Golf GTI, en el Audi S3 y en el Golf R. Como bien sabes, el escalado de la gama actual coloca al León FR de gasolina más potente con 180 caballos. De ahí se saltará al León Cupra, que tendrá 245 caballos, quedando por encima del Golf GTI. Este estará, con 220 CV (230 con el Performance Pack) entre ambas versiones. Ovshinsky, who didn't go to college, had hundreds of patents to his credit, and a 2006 Financial Express article went so far as to compare Ovshinsky to Thomas Edison. It wasn't the only outlet to do that. Ovshinsky's discoveries, which date back to the late 1950s, helped further the development of such widely used products such as flat-panel displays, solar panels and rewritable compact discs. In 1960, he founded ECD Ovonics (first called Energy Conversion Devices), which was named a top 20 green company by Plenty magazine in 2007.
