Gallery: Subaru BRZ ST Concept - París 2012 Share TweetSubaru BRZ XT Line Concept - París 2012 originally appeared on Autoblog Español on Fri, 28 Sep 2012 03:50:00 EST. Paris: Mitsubishi ASX is French for Outlander Sport
Filed under: Europe, Paris Motor Show, Crossover, MitsubishiMitsubishi has revealed the Euro-version of the same Outlander Sport model that debuted with updates earlier this year at the New York Auto Show. No, the French do not call it the Royale Sport (with cheese), but rather the ASX. The crossover has received a range of aesthetic and engineering tweaks, including revised interior fabrics. Designers have also abandoned the old rotary knob switch for the vehicle's all-wheel-control system in favor of a pushbutton interface, though the largest change to the recipe comes in the form of a reworked multi-link rear suspension. Powertrain options remain unchanged, however, with a total of three engine mills on deck, including a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 115 horsepower mated to a five-speed manual transmission in two-wheel drive configuration. Those hunting up a little more traction can step up to a 1.8-liter diesel with 147 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque paired with a six-speed manual and the buyer's choice of either a two-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive system. A low-CO2 1.8 diesel is also available with 114 horsepower. You can check out the full press release below for more information.Continue reading Mitsubishi ASX is French for Outlander SportMitsubishi ASX is French for Outlander Sport originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 28 Sep 2012 03:32:00 EST.
Continue reading Porsche 911 Carrera 4 y Carrera 4S - París 2012Porsche 911 Carrera 4 y Carrera 4S - París 2012 originally appeared on Autoblog Español on Fri, 28 Sep 2012 03:21:00 EST. Paris: Seat Leon shows its angular assets
Filed under: Budget, Europe, Paris Motor Show, Hatchback, SEAT, Diesel The third-generation Seat Leon has made its debut in Paris, confirming for the assembled masses that its live form is just as fetching as the studio shots we've already seen.Seat tipped its hand on the new Leon earlier this summer, so we've already reported on most of the critical details. Two TDI diesels, a 1.6-liter and a 2.0-liter, will make up the engine range at launch, while a total of five powerplants will come online by the first part of 2013. A familiar overall body shape reflects what we've seen from the new Golf, and follows an exhaustive rework of the Leon, both inside and out. Get a firsthand look at what's been done in our live gallery of images.Continue reading Seat Leon shows its angular assetsSeat Leon shows its angular assets originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 28 Sep 2012 03:00:00 EST.
Paris: 2013 BMW M135i xDrive adds all-wheel drive to performance hatchback platform
Filed under: Performance, Europe, Paris Motor Show, Hatchback, BMW The new-for-2013 BMW 1 Series three-door is a wonderful thing in any of the configurations that we don't get to buy here in the U.S. (We know, we're like a broken record with this "forbidden fruit" bit these days, but the fly-away auto shows really bring it out of us.) Of course, the best of all versions, it is easy to assume, is this BMW M135i xDrive. Not only does this particular 1er get the sleek-yet-functional new two-box design from BMW, but it also comes complete with a 320-horsepower version of BMW's 3.0-liter that everyone loves, plus the added surefootedness of all-wheel drive. What's not to adore?Enjoy looking, Mr. America, because you, like us, won't be driving this Bimmer any time soon.Continue reading 2013 BMW M135i xDrive adds all-wheel drive to performance hatchback platform2013 BMW M135i xDrive adds all-wheel drive to performance hatchback platform originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 27 Sep 2012 22:57:00 EST. Paris: 2013 Hyundai i30 3-Door is a tidy Elantra GT
Filed under: Budget, Europe, Paris Motor Show, Hatchback, Hyundai Here in the United States, the Hyundai i30 is better known as the Elantra GT. And while the five-door version that we get is nearly identical to the model sold in Europe (save some specific suspension tuning), this new three-door variant will be an Old Country-only affair. Despite the fact that it's certainly a looker, we can't exactly blame Hyundai for not offering the three-door i30 in the States. Europeans buy up hatchbacks in droves, but with the sedan, coupe and five-door in our market, there isn't really a pressing need for a new three-door version to join the already-full Elantra range. And as the Hyundai press release states, the i30 three-door is "designed, engineered and manufactured in Europe, for Europe." Alrighty then. Powering the i30 is a range of gasoline and diesel four-cylinder engines, all mated to the buyer's choice of a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Hyundai hasn't spilled all the beans on what lies underhood, but states that the "highlight" of the powertrain range is a 1.6-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder that pumps out 126 horsepower. Check out the three-door i30 in our high-res gallery above, and scroll down for Hyundai's official words.Continue reading 2013 Hyundai i30 3-Door is a tidy Elantra GT2013 Hyundai i30 3-Door is a tidy Elantra GT originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 27 Sep 2012 22:29:00 EST. Paris: 2013 Škoda Rapid offers Czech flair in a Volkswagen world
Filed under: Budget, Sedan, Europe, Paris Motor Show, Skoda Czech automaker Škoda has splashed down at this week's Paris Motor Show with its new Rapid sedan. The 2013 Rapid may bear a brand-specific front end, but the rest of the car isn't a far leap from its Volkswagen Jetta roots. We think that's a good thing, though perhaps the best instantiation of this corporate model is the new Toledo from Seat? We'll let the Europeans fight that one out. The Rapid will serve as an entry point into the larger Volkswagen corporate universe for many buyers, offering a value-laden vehicle that is slightly less upscale than its German and Spanish counterparts. The Rapid will be served up with no fewer than five engine choices at launch: a pair of diesels and three different petrol-engined cars will fill out the roster. Curiously, the Czech automaker already markets a very different model under the Rapid banner, a smaller VW Polo-derived model sold in India.Continue reading 2013 Škoda Rapid offers Czech flair in a Volkswagen world2013 Škoda Rapid offers Czech flair in a Volkswagen world originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 27 Sep 2012 21:59:00 EST. Paris: 2013 Toyota Auris Hybrid is sharper and sleeker in new form [w/video]
Filed under: Hybrid, Europe, Paris Motor Show, Hatchback, ToyotaToyota may have given us the full spec-sheet on its revised Auris before the car made its official Parisian debut, but our first live look at the next-generation wagon nevertheless proves compelling. The longer, lower five-door looks the part of a better-handling hatchback - just the role that Toyota hopes the hybrid can play in the European market. The Hybrid seen here is the second-generation gas-electric Auris, and it will be the top-level powertrain option for European buyers. Toyota expects that a full one-third of Auris buyers will select that Hybrid Synergy Drive model - the other two-thirds of buyers are expected to be evenly split between the diesel- and gasoline-powered versions of the car. Have a closer look at the handsome 2013 Toyota Auris in our live gallery and scroll below for the official word from Toyota in both video and press release forms.Continue reading 2013 Toyota Auris Hybrid is sharper and sleeker in new form [w/video]2013 Toyota Auris Hybrid is sharper and sleeker in new form [w/video] originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 27 Sep 2012 21:30:00 EST. Paris: 2013 Fiat Panda 4x4 is 'go anywhere' in a small package
Filed under: Paris Motor Show, Crossover, Off-Road, FiatFiat has already dropped all of the info for its new Panda 4x4 mini utility, but the Paris Motor Show allows us to finally see this prospective future Jeep in the flesh. Claimed to be the only four-wheel-drive offering in Europe's A-segment, the 2013 Fiat Panda 4x4 promises to be a proficient off-roader in a very small package. From the sounds of it, this latest Panda 4x4 is no softroader, with permanent four-wheel drive that maximizes off-road capabilities through a torque-on-demand system that features a pair of differentials. The Panda 4x4's electronic locking differential can apply the brakes to wheels losing grip and transfer that power to other wheels for optimal traction. Power comes from either an 80-horsepower, 0.9-liter TwinAir Turbo engine or a 1.3-liter diesel. While giving off the rugged vibe with all its black plastic cladding, the Panda 4x4 still has a cute exterior design that displays its kinship to the Fiat 500. Speaking of the 500, the Panda 4x4 rides on the same 90.6-inch wheelbase as Fiat's iconic hatchback - despite having four doors - and it's also longer, taller and wider than the standard Panda. We doubt the U.S. will ever see the Panda or the Panda 4x4, but it could very well be the basis for a new sub-Compass model in the Jeep lineup, so it will likely pay to keep a close eye on Fiat's cuddly little dirtmonger. Scroll down for the official press release with more details.Continue reading 2013 Fiat Panda 4x4 is 'go anywhere' in a small package2013 Fiat Panda 4x4 is 'go anywhere' in a small package originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 27 Sep 2012 20:59:00 EST. Paris: Subaru BRZ XT Line Concept shows off custom look
Filed under: Concept Cars, Coupe, Performance, Paris Motor Show, Subaru The Subaru XT was a small coupe from the '80s that offered all-wheel drive and a turbo engine, and now, Subaru is revisiting the designation on its 2012 BRZ XT Line Concept. While we would love to imagine a day with a turbocharged Subaru BRZ driven by all four wheels, we'll have to wait until later to learn the true details of this car. The XT moniker has also been used more recently to denote the turbocharged models of the Subaru Forester, so there's that, too. For now, though, all we have to work on are pictures of the car, and from what we can tell, Subaru's definitely injecting more attitude into the much-loved rear-drive coupe. Visual changes include carbon fiber (or at least a carbon fiber look) on the roof panel, decklid spoiler and mirror caps, while the blacked-out 11-spoke wheels expose red-painted calipers at all four corners. XT Line Concept badges adorn the front fascia, fender vents and the C-pillars. Inside this mysterious concept, the BRZ gets some bright red leather seats with embossed XT logos and some added carbon fiber trim on the gauge cluster brow and door panels. Honestly, the XT Line Concept looks more appropriate for SEMA rather than today's Paris Motor Show reveal, but hopefully Subaru will release a press release with additional information later. Until then, enjoy the live images.Subaru BRZ XT Line Concept shows off custom look originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 27 Sep 2012 20:29:00 EST. Paris: Volvo V40 Cross Country is ready to make the neighbors jealous
Filed under: Europe, Paris Motor Show, Crossover, Hatchback, Volvo, LuxuryVolvo fans that have dreamed of having the convenient size of a small wagon or hatchback with the trendy styling of a crossover are today one step closer to living in automotive paradise. After recently releasing every bit of granular detail about the model, Volvo has gone ahead and pulled the curtain back on its V40 Cross Country. We must say that, as far as exercises in extending a single model go, we think this Cross Country is pulled off fairly well. The basic V40 goodness is, of course, baked in, with the added benefit of standard all-wheel drive for the models sporting Volvo's lively T5 turbocharged engine. Add to that - as well as a full range of five engine options, including three diesels - a set of menacing black and silver wheels and a beefy body kit, and we're almost onboard with this higher capability V40. Of course "almost" is probably as close as we're going to get while living in North America, where Volvo still has no plans to sell this particularly right-sized small car. Ah well, at least we have our live gallery of images from the Paris Motor Show floor.Continue reading Volvo V40 Cross Country is ready to make the neighbors jealousVolvo V40 Cross Country is ready to make the neighbors jealous originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 27 Sep 2012 20:00:00 EST. Paris: Hyundai ix35 lays claim to world's first production fuel cell vehicle title
Filed under: Paris Motor Show, Hatchback, Hyundai, Electric Lo and behold, folks: Hyundai has wowed the crowds in Paris with what it says is the world's first serial production hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. Honda may disagree, but the Korean automaker says its ix35 Fuel Cell vehicle will be made available for private and public lease by the end of 2012, making it the first commercially available vehicle running on hydrogen. Production is slated to begin in December of 2012, and Hyundai plans to produce 1,000 ix35 Fuel Cell vehicles by 2015, after which mass production across the globe is planned. We'll see. As with all vehicles powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, water vapor is the only thing exhausted out the tailpipe. Besides the lack of emissions and the sound of an internal combustion engine, Hyundai says its new alt-fuel crossover is indistinguishable from a regular gas-burning ix35 (better known in North America as the Hyundai Tucson). With a range of up to 365 miles, this is one is a seemingly practical zero-emission machine. Powerful, though, it is not - Hyundai quotes a top speed of 100 miles per hour and a 0-62 mph run of 12.5 seconds. Read all about the ix35 Fuel Cell below, but not before checking out our high-res gallery of live shots above.Continue reading Hyundai ix35 lays claim to world's first production fuel cell vehicle titleHyundai ix35 lays claim to world's first production fuel cell vehicle title originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 27 Sep 2012 19:29:00 EST. Paris: Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion Concept boasts 73.5 MPG of eco-minded fury
Filed under: Concept Cars, Hatchback, Volkswagen, Diesel In addition to the seventh-generation production-ready Golf being shown here in Paris, Volkswagen is using the French expo to tout the great strides it has made with diesel efficiency, best represented here with the Golf BlueMotion Concept. The swan song of this oil-burning Golf? Seventy-three and a half miles per gallon. At the heart of the Golf BlueMotion Concept is a 1.6-liter diesel inline four-cylinder engine good for 108 horsepower mated exclusively to a five-speed manual gearbox with extra long gear ratios. Volkswagen has also fitted this concept with ultra-low-rolling resistance tires, and like all new Golf models, fuel-saving start/stop is present on the BlueMotion. Despite its name, this Golf BlueMotion certainly doesn't look like a concept, and Volkswagen has stated that the car will go into production (in Europe) next summer. Paris: 2013 Maserati GranCabrio MC is more of the same, still cool as hell
Filed under: Convertible, Performance, Europe, Paris Motor Show, Luxury Yes, the 2013 Maserati GranCabrio MC is yet another variation on the GranTurismo song and dance, but we won't be the ones to hold it against the convertible. The Italian automaker threw in a revised, more aggressive front fascia, and the new nose helps stretch the convertible's overall length by nearly two inches. That's some overhang. The GranCabrio also features reworked adaptive headlights with LED daytime running lights, and a rear spoiler that produces more downforce than the standard issue kit is part of the mix as well. Inside, the Maserati GranCabrio MC delivers redesigned seats up front, which offer more bolstering and can be hewn from carbon fiber for extra coin. And the new design helps the machine deliver a bit more rear legroom out back. Buyers can expect to be met with the same 4.7-liter V8 as found in the GranTurismo Sport. The lump dumps 460 horsepower onto the rear tires via a six-speed ZF automatic transmission. Take a look at the full press release below for more information.Continue reading 2013 Maserati GranCabrio MC is more of the same, still cool as hell2013 Maserati GranCabrio MC is more of the same, still cool as hell originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 27 Sep 2012 18:31:00 EST. Paris: Porsche unveils more powerful Cayenne S Diesel
Filed under: SUV, Europe, Paris Motor Show, Porsche, Diesel, Luxury We recently drove the new 2013 Porsche Cayenne Diesel - the automaker's first oil-burning offering here in the States. But here in Paris, Porsche has pulled the wraps off of a more powerful version of the diesel Cayenne, and on paper, it sure looks sweet. The meat and potatoes of the Cayenne S Diesel package is a twin-turbocharged 4.2-liter diesel V8 that produces 382 horsepower and 627(!) pound-feet of torque. Having that much grunt on tap means the all-wheel-drive Cayenne will shoot to 62 miles per hour in a scant 5.7 seconds, topping out at 157 mph. Even more remarkably, when you aren't driving with a lead foot, the S Diesel will return around 28 miles per gallon. Impressive stuff. Porsche officials have told Autoblog that we won't be getting the Cayenne S Diesel here in the United States, meaning we'll have to make due with the 240-hp 3.0-liter oil-burner. Not that that's a bad thing. Scroll down for the official release.Continue reading Porsche unveils more powerful Cayenne S DieselPorsche unveils more powerful Cayenne S Diesel originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 27 Sep 2012 17:58:00 EST.
Gallery: Toyota Auris 2013Continue reading Toyota Auris II - París 2012Toyota Auris II - París 2012 originally appeared on Autoblog Español on Thu, 27 Sep 2012 17:33:00 EST. Paris: Ssangyong e-XIV Concept is going the distance
Filed under: Concept Cars, Europe, Paris Motor Show, Crossover, Electric, South KoreaSsangyong has shown up at the 2012 Paris Motor Show with an extended-range hybrid version of its XIV 2 Coupe showcar. Called the e-XIV Concept, it pairs a 1.0-liter two-cylinder gasoline engine with a 107-horsepower electric motor and a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery to give the vehicle a theoretical total range of around 373 miles. The manufacturer claims the concept is capable of covering 50 miles in pure electric mode, and while it takes a full four hours to charge the battery pack, a 20-minute quick charge is also available. Borrowing from the extended-range hybrid concept playbook of 2005, the e-XIV features a 12-panel solar cell roof for running the vehicle's accessories. Don't expect to see the e-XIV Concept cruising the streets of Beijing anytime soon. Like the XIV 2 Coupe and the XIV 1 B before it, the newest concept from this South Korean company was penned largely as an engineering and design exercise. Take a look at the full press release below for more information.Continue reading Ssangyong e-XIV Concept is going the distanceSsangyong e-XIV Concept is going the distance originally appeared on Autoblog on Thu, 27 Sep 2012 17:31:00 EST.
