Filed under: Porsche, Fotos espía, Cupés, DeportivosPincha la imagen para ver todas las instantáneas en la web de Colla Verglas Adiós a la sorpresa de Porsche. El 911 GT3 ha sido capturado por los amigos de colla vergals en la C-17, prácticamente sin más camuflaje que unas cubiertas plásticas sobre el paragolpes trasero, y un poco de cinta negra sobre la toma de aire frontal. Y claro, ante semejante evento, estos chicos no guardaron tiempo para sacar un montón de fotos y grabar un pequeño vídeo del aparato (que te hemos dejado tras el salto) donde podemos disfrutar del increíble sonido de su motor seis cilindros bóxer atmosférico. Del coche... ¿qué decir? El frontal es agresivo y radical, con un splitter muy, muy bajo, con una enorme boca central para tomar aire y refrigerar el radiador, y una salida de aire caliente justo delante del labio del capó del maletero delantero. Las llantas son monotuerca, como ya acostumbra la marca, con enormes y poderosos frenos tras ellas. La impresión es que, gracias a la pérdida de altura de la carrocería, el ancho de vías incrementado, la mayor batalla, y las proporciones en general, estamos ante un coche más "bruto y poderoso", y eso que el anterior 911 GT3 no se quedaba corto. Como bien sabes ya, esperamos que el coche se presente en el próximo Salón de Ginebra del mes de marzo, con 450 caballos a través de sus ruedas traseras, con cambio PDK. Diremos adiós al bloque Mezger, sí, pero la nueva generación promete mucho. El excelente trabajo dirigido por Gordon Murray demostró a principios de la década de los noventa cómo se podía hacer un súper deportivo capaz de combinar bajo una misma carrocería la capacidad para vivir el día a día con él, ofrecer espacio para tres ocupantes, y contar con las mejores prestaciones que jamás se habían visto en un coche de serie. Conquistó Le Mans prácticamente de serie, e hizo, cuando llego al mercado, parecer que el Ferrari F40 era un coche vetusto. Nos hizo cambiar la manera de ver los coches prestacionales, devolviendo algo del carácter GT a la ecuación, pero sin descuidar las mejores prestaciones posibles. Murray creó la que probablemente quede como su mejor creación de la historia. Y en McLaren pensaron una y dos veces que, tal vez, merecía la pena alargar la serie de 106 unidades producidas ante la demanda de la clientela. Entretenida, por los giros argumentales, con accidentes y coches de seguridad, y todo en un enclave, Singapur nocturno, ya bien merece la pena para ser visto y disfrutado. Es de las carreras más espectaculares del año por estética, sin duda alguna. Vimos a un Vettel ganador, que se encontró con una victoria cuando todo parecía indicar que Lewis Hamilton sería el ganador. Pero al británico parece que la suerte no le quería acompañar, y acababa abandonando con la caja de cambios rota. Y esto no pinta bien para Lewis. Land has been well taken care of for more than 125 years. The brand took a leap back into the sky with a Eurocopter EC145 interior designed by Mercedes-Benz Style, its product design division. Now its UK-registered Silver Arrows Marine division will get the brand back in the water in 2013: it has showed off concept looks for a 14-meter "Granturismo" at the Monaco Yacht Show that will soon go into production. Silver Arrows Marine is being vague about details, only providing soundbites like "innovations hitherto unknown in the boat industry," an "innovative layout and use of space," and "innovative versatility," plus a design "suitable for a wide range of uses" and "elegant and timeless interior appointments." The 46.2-foot motor yacht is mainly a day-tripper but "can" also do an overnight on the water. Martin Francis of Francis Design and Tommaso Spadolini of Design Studio Spadolini have been called upon to lead its design. If you saw Kia's "Epic Ride" commercial during the 2011 Super Bowl, you've seen Francis' work: he was a technical expert concerning the hull on the Philippe-Stark-designed Yacht A. Generation Y, or those born after the late 1970s, account for about a quarter of those shopping for new small cars, up from 16 percent in 2008, according to a study released by GfK Automotive. The bigger news, though, is that fuel economy isn't what they're most interested in. In fact, GfK Automotive says, Gen Y buyers prioritize excitement, looks, and driving fun over fuel economy when it comes to reasons to buy a small car. This is an interesting change from their elders. For example, Baby Boomers, who account for about a third of all small car shoppers, prioritized fuel economy over driving excitement, though were still very bullish on small car looks. And Generation X - those following the Baby Boomers - put an even greater emphasis on fuel economy than the Boomers do. Interesting, no? A decline in UD market share over the past few years has been further troubled by the strength of the currency, which caused the price of the trucks to climb above that of the competition. The president of UDNA notified dealers by letter that the 300 or so trucks remaining in inventory will be sold and that orders could be placed for 2013-model-year vehicles until October 15, but production capacity was limited and orders would be built on a first-come first-serve basis. The move puts an end to 27 years of medium-duty cab over engine (COE) haulers from the company, begun when Nissan Diesel America set up shop here in 1984 to sell its Uniflow Diesel-powered trucks. UDNA was hit especially hard by the financial crisis, and importing its trucks from Japan meant its offerings carried five-digit price premiums over rival trucks; two comparisons yielded differences of $11,000 and $18,000 in favor of competitors. UDNA's move comes toward the end of a long retreat of Japanese truck makers from the North American COE market. The remaining players in COE Classes 6 and 7 are Kenworth and Peterbilt, but their trucks are rebranded vehicles made by a European company and built in Mexico. Hoy lo que te traemos es el primer vídeo promocional de este sedán sucesor del Forte y que desgraciadamente no veremos en Europa Occidental, al menos a corto plazo. Como siempre, el vídeo lo encontrarás tras el salto pero al contrario de lo que suele ser habitual, la duración es muy superior con nada menos que 10 minutos en los que Kia aprovecha para mostrar todas sus virtudes, el equipamiento y por supuesto, el lado más dinámico. Back in July of 2012, Mahindra confirmed that it had basically given up its quest to sell small diesel-powered pickup trucks in the United States. According to a report from TheDetroitBureau.com, however, the Indian automaker is now opening a technical center in Troy, Michigan, near Detroit. "Because of its ties to the automobile industry and motor sports, Detroit is known as the Motor City around the world. We wanted to be part of that culture," said Rajan Wadhera, Mahindra's chief executive officer for technology and product development. This is reportedly the first tech center Mahindra has ever opened outside its home country of India. According to the report, Mahindra has already hired 70 workers in Michigan and plans to have 100 employees in Troy within the next six to eight months. La firma ha realizado varios vídeos en los que explican las razones de su diseño, equipamiento, tecnología, etc. aunque eso sí, en inglés. Lo que encontrarás tras el salto son cinco de los muchos vídeos que han preparado y qué podrían ser los más interesantes: tecnología, confort, seguridad y estilo, además de uno en el que podemos observarlo en movimiento por las carreteras indias. | Posted: 23 Sep 2012 09:32 AM PDT  Exclusive: New Ford Fusion not likely to oust top-selling Toyota Camry, yet Filed under: Car Buying, Budget, Sedan, Technology, Ford, Toyota, Design/Style As 2013 Ford Fusions begin rolling into dealerships, Ford can say that it has finally created the mythical Toyota Camry fighter. It's something we've heard again and again from Detroit's carmakers, always poised but never able to deliver a midsize sedan that will outsell the venerable Camry. This time, however, Ford may have a case. Offering five powertrains, including a 47 mpg gas-electric hybrid, a powerful 2-liter model, all wrapped in a sexy exterior, the Fusion makes a strong case that it deserves a spot at the top of America's most cutthroat segment. But numbers don't lie. Last year, Ford sold 248,000 Fusions. This year, sales are up 7.7 percent through August at 181,000 cars, making the Fusion Detroit's top selling midsize car in America. But it's not even close to the top selling midsize car in the U.S., it's not even the third best selling midsize sedan. The Camry is on a big rebound. It has sold 280,000 cars this year alone, and sales are up 37 percent. It could sell 400,000 cars by year's end. Meanwhile, through August, the Honda Accord at 219,000 cars (sales up 19 percent) and the Nissan Altima is at 210,000 units. Furthermore, the Camry remains the default choice for Baby Boomers. Style and performance be damned, these customers have always had a Camry and always will have a Camry. So Ford, admittedly, has its work cut out for it. Furthermore, the Fusion, which was originally assembled in Mexico, faced capacity limits, never having the ability to build as many Camry's as Toyota could. However, with the change over to the Flat Rock, Mich., factory, which also builds the Mustang, Ford will have the ability to match Toyota's capability. But that will only be necessary if there's a true demand for the new car. According to Sam Hoyt, Fusion brand manager, Ford expects big growth in Fusion sales next year, topping last year's high mark, though she would not give specific numbers. "We've got to get more customers in places on the east and west coasts in order to grow," said Hoyt of the traditional import-centric regions. Of the initial four powertrains offered, Hoyt says roughly 15 percent of new Fusion sales will be hybrids, 15 percent will be 2-liter turbocharged models - including the high end Titanium - 35 percent will have the base 2.5-liter engine under the hood and 35 percent will be powered with Ford's 1.6-liter Ecoboost four-cylinder. Of course, those are just the original expectations. Ford plans on being able to quickly adapt if demands change. Hoyt says that Ford expects a conquest rate around 50 percent overall and about 70 percent for the hybrid. "It could be even higher," Hoyt said. Perhaps. And while the new Fusion bests the Camry in many areas at first blush, it's not likely to depose it as sales leader in the coming years. But give it time. El deportivo híbrido de la marca francesa compartirá escenario con un scooter homónimo, con tres ruedas y diseño bicolor que recuerda a su hermano de cuatro ruedas. Como aquel, este triciclo es un aparato híbrido, donde se combina un motor de 400 centímetros cúbicos con uno eléctrico para ofrecer entre ambos 60 caballos de potencia a través de la única rueda posterior. Su aspecto más curioso es que se puede montar o desmontar la pieza central que cuenta con la forma del depósito de combustible, de manera que podemos tener una "deportiva" con "joroba" para apoyar nuestro pecho contra ella cuando alcanzamos el manillar, o contar con el típico escudo de scooter conduciendo con las rodillas por delante del pecho. Dos personalidades para esta curiosa moto que, nos tememos, se quedará en prototipo.
