Road & Track decided to get the answers from a man who uses one every day: IndyCar points leader Ryan Hunter-Reay. The basic controls include a push-to-talk button that allows the driver to communicate with his crew, plus toggles for push-to-pass, water for the driver, and a pit-lane cruiser button that caps the IndyCar's speed. The latter is protected by a guard so it's not inadvertently activated, which happened to Hunter-Reay last year in Brazil. Two powerhouses in their respective realms, and as of recently the motorcycle brand belongs to Audi AG as part of Lamborghini. Inspired, perhaps, by the freshly forged relationship between he two companies, Audi has decided to examine how much the two share in their pursuit of glory at Pikes Peak by taking it on in tandem. Of course, cameras were in place to capture the action as the hill-climb-ready RS5 and Ducati Mulitstrada took on all 12.42 miles and 156 tuns of the climb together. Ahora completamos todo los dicho anteriormente con un vídeo en el que podemos ver con todo lujo de detalles al nuevo integrante. El C3 MY2013 es un producto muy importante que además adelanta en cierta forma el aspecto que tendrán en Europa las unidades que se vendan con el restyling. Sabemos que no serán iguales, pero sí que compartirán algunos elementos como las luces diurnas y el diseño de la parrilla. Lo que sí seguirá siendo específico es el salpicadero, más elegante y mejor terminado que el de las unidades brasileñas -todos los detalles del nuevo modelo-. Seeing perfectly able-bodied people stroll from their illegally-parked cars into a building is infuriating. But, fearing road rage reprisal, we don't dare confront these folks. Two reporters for the Detroit Free Press, however, took a video camera into the field and hunted down several offenders. Some illegally parked drivers claimed ignorance until the blue sign and blue paint were pointed out. Some acted offended, others offered lame excuses, and with the help of a parking enforcement officer, at least one was ticketed. And before you comment, yes, we know some people aren't visibly handicapped yet still need to reduce their walk from car to store. One of the people confronted in the video turned out to be driving her blind husband around. Others, though, admitted their hang-tag belonged to someone else. In Detroit, that'll get you a $500 ticket for fraud instead of just a $100 ticket for parking in a handicapped spot without permission. The image above is from the video and shows a man illegally using his boss's handicapped parking tag. Turns out, his boss, and owner of the car, is Eugene Applebaum, who is disabled and who has served on the board of a multiple sclerosis group. Even though the overall numbers remain small, the Volt is clearly bypassing the Nissan Leaf and niche competitors. The stumbling block has always been the MSRP sticker price, which started out at about $41,000 when the Volt was launched in late 2010. So far, leasing has been the solution and that's getting even better for car shoppers. When pricing was announced two years ago, eyebrows were raised over the Volt being priced about $9,000 more than the Nissan Leaf. General Motors forecasted strong residual values for the Volt and set up a lease program very close to the monthly payments for the Leaf. Since then numbers have gotten even more competitive, and TrueCar said the best lease deal arrived in July. A consumer can place $2,529 down and make $260-a-month lease payments for 36 months. The deal expires September 4. PluginCars is hearing anecdotal evidence about even better deals through individual Chevrolet dealerships. There's also the question of resale values and finding deals on used Volts, once enough of them come off-lease within the next two years. The estimated trade-in value of a 2011 Volt, according to the National Automobile Dealers Association used car guide, is $29,325. That's 90 percent of its post-incentive $32,780 sticker price. In California and New York, it's helping that the Volt qualifies for the HOV lane access for driver-only trips. It would also help to see gasoline prices go up over $4 a gallon - the Volt's competitive advantage being range anxiety reduction and freedom from gas station trips. Los dos primeros son muy populares y deseados en aquellos países en los que están presentes (si no logran el éxito en alguno de ellos es debido a los altos precios) mientras que el Freemont, derivado del Journey, debería situarse como la opción interesante para las familias que quieren alejarse del producto nacional con algo más exótico. After a stint at the 'Ring to set a time of 8:23, the two-seat-only Cooper has parked itself in the wind tunnel to demonstrate its various wind-cheating features like the engine shield and rear wing. The narrator informs us that that JCW GP has six percent less drag, 30 percent less front axle lift and 90 percent less rear axle lift - we'll assume that's compared to a standard Mini Cooper, since he doesn't say, but those are healthy numbers no matter what. No es la primera vez que un departamento de policía suma a su flota uno de esos coches que cualquier mortal desearía tener en su garaje. Ejemplos hay muchos, sobre todo en países como el Reino Unido o Alemania, pero no es habitual que esto ocurra en otros como Rumania. El nuevo integrante de la Politia rumana es un Jaguar XFR del año 2010 convenientemente adaptado para cumplir con su nueva función. Será empleado para patrullar por autopistas y poder dar alcance a cualquier vándalo que se atreva a superar los límites de velocidad de manera holgada. Desde luego que con un motor V8 de cinco litros y nada menos que 510 CV, pocos serán los que se escapen. El problema principal no es sólo el mercado español, bastante tocado con el tema de la recesión económica, sino que también en Francia está sufriendo una caída en la demanda muy acusada. The crew hosts a day of seminars covering everything from new products to a timing belt how-to, and this year, a total of 11 V8 conversions showed up in the same room. There are many ways to pull over 400 horsepower from a Mazda Miata, but few are more entertaining than plopping a honkin' American V8 behind the headlights. The shop routinely plays host to Keith Tanner's delicious Targa Miata as well as the company's NB development mule, Elvis, and his NC sister, Betty, but with six customer cars with FM V8 conversions on hand plus two homebrew specials hanging about, the total hit an all-time high. No one's throwing out any specific numbers, but estimates put the final horsepower figure at around 4,500 ponies. For perspective, you'd need to amass around 27 stock NC models to crest the same number. Cue the mad-scientist laughter. This year marked the 15th Flyin' Miata Summer camp, and fans of the brand trekked from as far as Maine and Florida for five days of on-track shenanigans, group drives and seminars by the FM staff. Hace un par de años salto a la actualidad con la presentación del Knight XV, un mastodóntico todoterreno blindado. Ahora vuelven a ser noticia al presentar su primer vehículo sin blindaje, el Evade. Si algo caracteriza a los vehículos fabricados por Conquest Vehicles eso es la estética. El nuevo Evade se parece bastante al anterior Knight XV y mantiene ese aspecto casi de película de ciencia ficción. Pese a parecer muy aparatoso, la firma asegura que han realizado las modificaciones necesarias para su conducción sea más sencilla. Al parecer, Walter De Silva habría dicho que el Audi A5 era el coche más bonito que dibujó. Su diseño es en realidad el fruto de dos proyectos internos, un diseñador creó el frontal y otro la zaga, mientras que Walter unió los dos. El diseño no es estrictamente suyo, pero no pasa nada. Al fin y al cabo ese es el trabajo de un director de centro de estilo, guiar a sus diseñadores. De hecho, una vez que un diseñador llega a ese cargo, ya no suele dibujar. Sin menospreciar el talento de De Silva y su función de director, reconozcamos que el A5 es uno de los modelos más atractivos de su segmento. Quizá sea un poco conservador para algunos, cierto, pero es que es un Audi y no podía ser de otra forma. Sabemos que cuando el diseño de un cupé es un éxito, hay pocas probabilidades para que el de su versión cabrio salga mal. Y efectivamente, el A5 Cabriolet es una auténtica belleza, y más aún en su variante S5. Inicialmente, el Audi S5 Cabriolet se diferenció de su hermano de carrocería cerrada por el motor. El Coupé recibía un V8 de 4.2 litros de 354 CV, mientras que el cabrio heredaba del V6 3.0 litros del S4 que con la ayuda de un compresor volumétrico desarrolla 333 CV. Con el restyling de finales de 2011, el S5 Coupé perdió el V8 en favor del V6 del Cabriolet. Since being installed in 2009, an electric vehicle charging station in Putney in the UK has been used for just five - five! - hours. According to The Guardian, the station in question - which cost £6,018 ($9,430 U.S. at today's exchange rates) to install - is in the parking lot of the Putney Leisure Centre in Putney. A council spokesman told the newspaper that stations were installed before the cars were available and that, "Usage was always going to be very low in the early years until more affordable models become available and more people switch to this new, greener technology." | Posted: 11 Aug 2012 01:44 AM PDT  Vintech prepara su homenaje al 550 de Porsche para Pebble Beach Se llama P550 Tribute, lo fabrica Vintech, un especialista francés, y se presentará en el Concurso de Elegancia de Pebble Beach este mismo mes de agosto. No hace falta ser un lince para darse cuenta de que estamos ante una especie de réplica modernizada del Porsche 550, y Vintech no lo niega. La idea de Vintech es crear desde cero un coche muy en línea con el diseño de la máquina de Stuttgart (veremos si la gente de Porsche tiene algo que decir ante los tribunales a este respecto), pero empleando tecnología moderna, con una carrocería íntegramente fabricada en composite de fibra de carbono, y una mecánica completamente nueva, mecanizada a partir de un sólido, creando un 4 cilindros plano con refrigeración por aire y ventilación forzada. Las cifras objetivo son 260 caballos y 550 kilogramos, y el precio de venta al público... bueno, ni tan siquiera sabemos si se comercializará. Lo único que sabemos es que nos gusta lo que vemos. ¿Y a ti?
