Bernie Ecclestone llevará la F1 gratis a Nürburgring en 2013
Filed under: Competición Como ya te contamos hace meses, la disputa de la carrera de F1 en Nürburgring en 2013 tenía pocas perspectivas de llevarse a cabo, ya que tras haber sido expulsados los administradores particulares de NAG, los contratos que estos habían firmado quedaban invalidados. Esto incluía el acuerdo con Ecclestone para la alternancia del GP de Alemania en Nürburgring. Esta semana, con la declaración en bancarrota y liquidación, se aclaraba todavía más esta cuestión, y parecía claro que era imposible ver a la F1 en 2013 en Nürburgring, salvo aparición milagrosa de un nuevo propietario. Pero hoy nos levantamos con una buena noticia. Y es que Bernie Ecclestone (que por cierto, ya controla varios circuitos en Europa) ha ofrecido a los propietarios de Nürburgring (sean los que sean) que la F1 corra en el trazado alemán sin coste alguno. Es decir, Ecclestone elimina la "tasa" de celebrar allí la carrera, y los costes directos asociados. A cambio se queda con los beneficios generados de manera directa. Si bien esta medida no es un negocio "genial", sí que ayudaría a preservar el Gran Premio, y eso, al mismo tiempo, ayudaría al negocio local (hoteles, restaurantes...) a pasar mejor el trago del cambio de dueños, que no debería llevar tanto tiempo. Official: Ariel Atom gets new Cup Racer series in UK

Known for its radical tube frame, minimalist bodywork and insane power-to-weight ratio, it is one of the quickest cars on pavement. Owners have also found them to be a natural on a racing circuit. So it comes as little surprise to hear of the Atom Cup. In a nutshell, the Atom Cup is a new spec racing series starting in the UK next year (think along the lines of the Ferrari Challenge and Porsche Cup series) with races held at circuits such as Brands Hatch and Silverstone. While the Ariel Atom doesn't need much in the go-fast department (the Honda 2.0-liter four-cylinder, rated at 245 horsepower, remains mostly unchanged), the 'Cup Spec' vehicles will be upgraded with a rollover cage, twin master cylinders (to adjust brake bias), six-point harness, Race Technology LCD dash display, additional protecitve bodywork, race-tuned suspension and Yokohama slicks. The Ariel Atom Cup Racer weighs just 1,125 pounds - about 800 pounds lighter than a Lotus Exige - and it will sprint from 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds. Cadillac certainly has reason to think it's moving up. The all-new 2013 ATS arrives next month to directly compete with the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C300. The larger Cadillac XTS launched last month, and next year, the third generation CTS arrives and new Escalade will also roll into dealerships. "We've gone nearly three years without new product," Butler said. "Now we're bringing in some great vehicles." Currently, Cadillac would need to add more than 100,000 units to take the top spot from Mercedes-Benz, which sold 261,573 units in 2011. Cadillac sold 152,389 vehicles in 2011. And that's just to top Mercedes. Lexus, which lost its top spot last year, has vowed to recapture it and Audi recently said it plans on becoming the No. 1 luxury brand in the world. Cadillac sales are currently down 18.6 percent for the year, according to Autodata Corp. though that number will likely change dramatically when the ATS hits showrooms. Luxury vehicle sales are up 12.8 percent and luxury car sales are up 16.8 percent. Butler readily admits that Cadillac has a lot of work to do to get back on top. The brand's name used to be synonymous with luxury; it was the Cadillac of luxury brands. But it hasn't been that for decades. "We used to be up on a pedestal," he said. Big Daddy Customs turns Tata Safari into Land Rover Evoque

It's a Tata Safari SUV (pictured at right) made to look like a Range Rover Evoque, but only really from the front, at a low angle, ideally in low light and assuming you'd never seen a real Evoque or the donor vehicle before. To get an idea of dimensions, the Evoque is a couple inches wider than a Safari, but the Safari is nearly a foot longer and more than a foot taller. Having said that, given what Big Daddy started with, it's not entirely dreadful. The Evoque's signatures have been reasonably approximated, and the "custom white paint job" is part of the package. Nothing's been changed inside, but according to the company's Facebook page. "Apart from glass house area, everything else has been modified in the body shell." So it's good to know that at least they take their work seriously. We think.
