Watching the diminutive VW being tested in Finland in preparation for next year's World Rally Championship makes us think "Wow, that's awesome!" and "Who's got the remote?" The rawer, wider, lighter Polo is powered by a Pratt & Whitney 300-horsepower, 1.6-liter STI engine, and sounds it. Después de conocer el concept y tras meses de fotos espía estábamos convencidos de que iba a ser recibido con los brazos abiertos, pero hay gente que no termina de aceptar la transformación del CLS en vehículo "familiar" (con muchas comillas, porque la plaza central es básicamente nominal). Por supuesto, lo mismo pasó en su día con el modelo original... The Transition finished its first round of Federal Aviation Administration certification flight tests (there are five more rounds to go) at Plattsburgh International Airport in New York, and is headed for on-road drive testing. It's another small step toward the flying cars we've been promised since at least the halcyon days of the "better living through technology" 1950s. The Transition was supposed to start deliveries by the end of this year at a cost under $200,000. The price has swollen to around $279,000 and while Terrafugia is happy to accept your deposit, expect at least a year or two before taking delivery. | Posted: 30 Jun 2012 02:17 PM PDT  Honda will start limited Fit EV leases at $389 a month Filed under: EV/Plug-in, Honda, USA OK, if you're keeping score on leasable electric vehicles, you know that $249 a month gets you a 62-mile single charge range, $289 a month gets you 74 miles, and now $389 a month gets you 82 miles. That last vehicle is the new Honda Fit EV, which the Japanese automaker says will be available for lease starting on July 20 in California and Oregon for $389 a month (originally, this was supposed to be $399). Earlier this week, Mitsubishi said it would begin leasing its Mitsubishi i starting at $249 a month, with a $3,498 down payment. That lease, which will be run through Ally Financial, values the i at an MSRP of $30,675, or about $6,000 less than the Fit EV. The i has a 62-mile single-charge range. Earlier this month, Nissan, whose Leaf can go 74 miles on a single charge, decreased the monthly lease payment amount for the Leaf by $60 to $289 a month, though the term was extended by three months to 39 months and the down payment was increased by $1,000, to $2,900. General Motors leases the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in through Ally starting at $369 a month. The upshot of the Honda lease? No initial down payment. The downside? No option to buy it after the lease is up. And they're only making about 1,100 of them for starters. The EPA earlier this month gave the 123-horsepower Fit EV a 118 miles-per-gallon equivalent rating - the second-highest ever to the now-discontinued-in-the-U.S. Tesla Roadster's 119 MPGe. It was described as looking like a cross between an Opel Corsa and an Audi A1 in the metal. There appears to be some French inspiration as well, especially the front end. Unless the light deceives, in-house cribbing comes in the Insignia-like swage line along the door, and we do hope that those wheels are offered on the production version. A reminder, the Adam is six inches longer than the Volkswagen Up! but still shorter than the Opel Agila. We'd read that the electric version of the hatch had been canceled, but according to Italian site CarPasion.it, the EV will be one of three trim lines: the electric Adam Jam, more elegant Adam Glam and the sporty Adam Slam. Eventually it will have three-cylinder engines co-developed with SAIC underhood, but there could be powerplants from the Corsa line offered at launch. The Adam should be in showrooms next spring for less than €10,000 ($13,000 USD). No hay fabricante que no intente acreditar el tiempo más rápido posible en el exigente trazado alemán, y Audi no es ninguna excepción, pasando ahora por el circuito con la versión eléctrica del R8, apellidada e-tron. Así, además de acreditar el récord para vehículos eléctricos -con 8 min. 09 s. 099- nos reconfirma que el R8 e-tron se pondrá finalmente a la venta a finales de este año. El piloto autor del crono no es otro que Markus Winkelhock, que hace unas semanas, justamente, ganaba las 24 Horas de Le Mans. A título de comparación, el record para un coche con motor térmico está en 7 min. 11 s. 57 (propiedad del Gumpert Apollo Sport, como bien sabes, animado por un V8 Audi de 700 CV). El R8 e-tron que pilotó Markus es un "modelo estrictamente de serie", reza la nota de prensa. Bueno, casi.
