Filed under: Industria Durante el pasado mes de mayo las matriculaciones de vehículos nuevos en Australia se incrementaron en un 24,1% en relación al mismo periodo del año anterior, alcanzando un volumen total de 96.069 unidades vendidas. En cuanto al acumulado del año, las matriculaciones alcanzaron un volumen total de 435.288 unidades, lo que representa un incremento del 8,8% en comparación con el mismo periodo del año anterior. A destacar la importante subida de Skoda, Great Wall y Jeep. Las firmas Alfa Romeo y Fiat no han computado ninguna venta debido al cambio de importador. Video: Forza Motorsport 4's latest car pack includes Corvette Racing ZR1, C63 AMG Black Series
Filed under: Videos, Toys/Games It may have gotten lost in the noise coming out of E3, particularly the preview for Forza Horizon that was released by Turn 10 Studios, but your good old Forza Motorsport 4 game got some new DLC this past week in the form of the Meguiar's Car Pack. As usual, this month's car pack injects your copy of Forza 4 with ten new cars to drive. The headlining ride is the 2011 Chevrolet #4 Corvette Racing ZR1. The game did ship with two Corvette Racing cars already, the 2004 #3 C5.R and 2006 #4 C6.R, both of which were much more dominant in their respective GTS and GT1 classes than this more recent ZR1-based car has been in the GT2 class, but its inclusion will round out your collection of modern ALMS Corvettes. What you'll probably jump into first, though, is the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series. We've driven it and you should too, even if it's only in the game. The 1987 RUF CTR Yellowbird is also nice to see in this pack, as well as the '92 Toyota Celica GT-Four RC ST185. You also get the original 1963 Volkswagen Beetle, 1997 Maserati Ghibli Cup, 1958 MG MGA Twin-Cam, 2011 Aston Martin Cygnet, 1940 Ford De Luxe Coupe and 1959 BMW 507. Unfortunately, the Forza Motorsport 4 Season Pass has concluded, so everyone will have to pony up the 560 MS Points ($7.00) to play. Rumormill: FWD BMW 1 Series expected at Paris Motor Show
Filed under: Concept Cars, Paris Motor Show, BMW, Design/Style, Luxury So here it is: Autocar reports that we'll see the first front-drive BMW at the Paris Motor Show this September, in concept form. It will likely be called the 1 Series GT, and the report says it will debut in late 2014. The car will share a platform with the forthcoming Mini redesign, as well as the turbo 1.5-liter three-cylinder Mini engine that's basically half of a BMW 3.0-liter inline six. Boo. Wasn't there something in the 1990 German Reunification treaty about BMW never making front-drive cars? Well there should have been. Of course, we've known that BMW has planned to throw away what last bit of brand purity it still retains since early 2010, when its chairman announced as much. And we know the reasoning: The front-drive, entry-level Bimmers are for the customers too dumb to know any better. But that doesn't mean we have to like it, even if BMW says it will still build the larger, rear-wheel-drive cars that have made the brand so special for decades. En parte el éxito llega gracias a las constantes series limitadas que la firma gala ha estado ofertando, sumando más equipamiento a precios menores. Los últimos en llegar son los "Just Mat" y "Grafhic Art". El primero de ellos toma de partida el acabado Sport Chic y añade un color específico para su carrocería (marrón Hickory Mat), diferentes detalles cromados, techo pintado en negro y llantas de aleación de 17 pulgadas también en negro. En el interior el aplique decorativo central está terminado en negro lacado y además suma climatizador automático, sistema de navegación MyWay y equipo de sonido Hi-Fi. Spy Shots: Facelifted Kia Sorento caught completely undisguised
Filed under: Spy Photos, Crossover, KiaWe've seen a couple sets of spy shots starring the next-generation Kia Sorento crossover, but thanks to the folks at Kia-World.net, we now have our first clear glimpse of the CUV's new fascia sans camouflage. It's certainly not a radical departure from the Sorento that was once touted as Kia's best-selling vehicle in the United States, but we must say, it's handsome. The refreshed Sorento uses a headlight and grille design that mimics the attractive Optima sedan, though when combined with upright foglamps flanking either side of the lower fascia, the whole package is looks more refined and upscale rather than sporty and aggressive. We expect the rear end to get a freshening-up, as well, along with other enhancements like new alloy wheels, LED running lamps and redesigned mirrors. It's still unclear exactly when the updated Sorento will debut, though Kia-World.net reports that the new crossover will go on sale in Korea in the third quarter of 2012. The Michigan Transportation Musical makes riding a bus sound joyous
Filed under: Biodiesel, Green Culture, Transportation Alternatives, Videos Need some lighthearted proof that Millennials - or whatever we're calling college-age students these days - can get excited about not driving cars? Check out The Michigan Transportation Musical. The reason the twelve-and-a-half-minute video got made is to let new students at the University of Michigan know about the various transportation options on and off campus in Ann Arbor if they don't have a car, focusing mostly on the biodiesel-hybrid bus system and the late-night Safe Ride. It leaves out biking and Zipcar (which is available in Ann Arbor), but it's still a good introduction for new students (which is exactly the people who will watch it when they get to campus for orientation this summer). The video was filmed and produced last month by UM students. There's dancing and song parodies and decent jokes as we learn about the various transportation alternatives from Billy Magic, who is explaining things to The Kid (who has puppet parents, so expect some surreal moments). We have to echo a key question The Kid asks Billy, though: "If you can teleport, why are we taking buses?"
