In case there's anyone who doesn't know, the same Ferruccio Lamborghini ultimately responsible for giving us the Aventador started off making tractors in his native Italy after World War II. The specs are a long way from anything we'd expect from the company's road-going products. The vineyard and orchard tractor has a 5.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 85 horsepower and 350 foot-pounds of torque, a two-foot clutch and 12 forward gears that get it from 0.3 miles per hour to 14 mph. It's also got a starter motor from a Countach. During the show the P1 was said to be "97-percent final," and during the NYC shindig the last three-percent variation was explained, that being vents in the fenders ahead of the front wheels to channel hot air away, and a different pattern for the mesh grille at the rear of the car. Other notables include the panoramic roof, full carbon fiber discs with a mirror finish provided by a Formula One supplier, superaluminum wheels that are as light as magnesium but more durable, and bits we already know about like the downforce equal to "having a small elephant sitting on the roof of the car." According to Lexus, Santa's reindeers bailed out on him to vacation in Hawaii through a last-minute travel deal. Santa contacted Lexus for help through his perception that the luxury carmaker delivers the best customer experience in the industry. It was such a huge opportunity for Lexus that the company sprang into action. "We couldn't bear the thought of leaving the big guy high and dry. Our elves and engineers are proud to introduce the 'Lexus Flying Luxury Cruiser,' or LFLC for short," said Lexus General Manager Mark Templin in a company press release. His company makes car care products and sells all manner of accessories for the "garage lifestyle," and the company motto is "Have fun in your garage." That can't be a hard thing to do judging by what's in Griot's own workspace, with a Ferrari Formula One car driven by Michael Schumacher sharing space with McLarens, Cobras, Mustangs, BMWs, Porsches, and at least one vintage Lamborghini. Griot says that "At the end of the day, I sell fun." It looks like he has a lot, too. The Ferrari magazine reported that everything the Scuderia has learned in Formula One has gone into its soon-to-be-revealed animal, and this latest disclosure shows just how much that's true. We don't know its length or width, but Ferrari says one of the targets for the car was "a reduction in height and wheelbase to match that of the 458 Italia." Rory Byrne, the Ferrari F1 designer that's been involved in 11 world championships for the team, has spent three years contributing to chassis development. That chassis will be laid up by hand in the company's F1 composites department, each chassis composed of different kinds of carbon fiber and cured in an autoclave, F1 monocoque-style. That's part of where the lighter weight and vastly heightened torsional and beam rigidity versus the Enzo comes from. Just behind the tub - and behind the driver's back - will be the batteries and fuel tank, again, just as on an F1 car. The cockpit will be personalized to the driver in a way that is rare among road cars, with each seat made-to-measure for the driver and then set in a fixed position in the cabin. The steering wheel and pedal box will move to accommodate pilots. What's more, we're told that "the occupant's feet are at the same level as the driving position." That, and the angle of the seatback, will provide "an extraordinarily racy feeling." An evolution of the 740-horsepower, 6.3-litre V12 currently found in the F12 Berlinetta will work with the latest HY-KERS and a double-clutch transmission. Ferrari says the powertrain makes the car quicker from 0-to-120 miles per hour, reduces emissions by 40 percent, and improves features like torque vectoring and brake force distribution. Según los datos estadísticos disponibles hasta ahora, este segmento acumula un descenso de nada menos que el 26%, siendo precisamente uno de los que más está sufriendo la recesión económica. Por subsegmentos son los comerciales más grandes y los de tipo "chasis-cabina" los que mayor retroceso han experimentado hasta la segunda quincena de diciembre mientras que los furgones derivados de turismos como los Berlingo, Kangoo, Dobló o Bipper han resistido algo mejor esta mala etapa. Estos últimos ya suponen el 55% del total del segmento. Lo peor de todo esto es el envejecimiento del parque, que ahora se sitúa en 10,7 años de promedio. Además de ser una cifra superior a la de los turismos (10,3 años), con vehículos tan viejos se perjudica seriamente la seguridad en las carreteras y el entorno. La previsión estimada para todo el 2012 es de unos 77.300 vehículos. The same couldn't be said for Saab owners... until now. General Motors and Saab Automobile Parts North America (the remaining entity of the bankrupted automaker) have signed an agreement that provides 179 service centers to current Saab owners to receive factory-trained technicians and official Saab replacement parts. These warranty service providers will have all the tools, training and parts to maintain and repair Saab vehicles, and they will also have access to a technical assistance center for the technicians. Next year, SPNA will also set up a customer assistance center, which will likely be most useful in helping current owners find repair shows, as well as a program called Saab Secure to give added service support to owners of late model (2010 and 2011 model year) Saab vehicles. Finally, to make sure customers have a sufficient parts supply to keep their cars on the road, SPNA operates out of a 153,000 square foot warehouse in Michigan that has the ability to ship more than 3,000 parts orders per day. Entre ellas estarán los nuevos Serie 1 "Limited Edition Lifestyle", únicamente disponibles con las carrocerías coupé y cabriolet basadas en la generación anterior. Entre otras cosas estas versiones destacan por incluir pequeñas modificaciones en equipamiento. Entre las más destacadas podemos citar la decoración específica para la parrilla delantera, lllantas de aleación de 18 pulgadas de radios dobles, colas de escape cromadas o en mate, dos tonos para la carrocería (blanco o negro) y, ya en el interior, el tapizado en piel marrón con costuras en blanco, apliques en madera en salpicadero y puertas, volante específico forrado en cuero y logotipo de la serie en diversas partes del vehículo.
