But that doesn't even compare to the absurdity that you'll find in this video. Lasha Pataraya, a Georgian strongman, has reportedly set a new world record for pulling a truck with his ear. The truck weighed more than eight tons, and Pataraya managed to drag it a full 70 feet with a rope tied around his ear while a crowd cheered him on. Being a super-strong dude is one thing, but deciding to do something like this is just... well, we'll leave that for you to decide. Comenzará su manufactura en China durante este mes de diciembre y las primeras entregas tendrán lugar durante el mes de enero. Para este país, Citroën ha optado por equipar al nuevo C4L con el conocido motor 1.6 THP de 163 CV en combinación con la caja automática de seis velocidades con convertidor de par. Por debajo queda el 1.6 VTI de 120 CV con cambio manual de cinco velocidades. | Posted: 01 Dec 2012 02:19 PM PST  Official: Saleen 351 announced with 700 HP Filed under: Aftermarket, Coupe, Performance, Ford With Steve Saleen back at the helm of his namesake automaker, another recognizable name is reappearing in the Saleen sports car lineup. As previewed by the above rendering at the LA Auto Show, the Saleen 351 returns after a 13-year absence with 700 horsepower under the hood - take that Shelby GT500. That much horsepower is brought to you by a 351-cubic-inch (hence the name) supercharged V8 that also pumps out 655 pound-feet of torque. Power is laid down through a six-speed manual gearbox with a performance clutch and a 3.73 rear axle ratio. The brakes have been upgraded with 15-inch disks for improved stopping performance, too. For styling, Saleen gave the car carbon fiber front and rear splitters, staggered-width 20-inch wheels, a functional butterfly hood scoop and what it refers to as an "F1-style tail lamp." Strangely, the tuning house didn't actually bring the 351 to the LA show, so we're going to have to wait a bit for more images of this bad boy. Prize winner Hartmut Michel, who's the director of the Molecular Membrane Biology at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysics, has gone on record criticizing the use of biofuels for alternative energy because of their lack of efficiency, according to ClimateSanity. For instance, the amount of usable chemical energy storied in German biodiesel, which is made with rapeseed, ranges from 0.1 percent to 0.3 percent, and that doesn't take in consideration the energy used (and lost) in ploughing the fields used to create the plants in the first place. Michel also went on to take to task the use of materials such as sugarcane and microalgae for biofuel production. Those who miss chemistry class can read the ClimateSanity post here, but the CliffsNotes version will say that Michel believes it's a bad idea to depend on biofuels as an alternative energy source because of a combination of the high amount of energy needed to make the raw materials and the potential food shortages created by diverting such plants away from the global food supply. Todo eso parece perder validez ahora que en la nota de prensa de Hyundai España sobre las novedades presentes en el salón, nos hemos encontrado con un detalle que podría adelantarnos su posible lanzamiento: la mecánica. En el comunicado se dice que el Santa Fe LWB (Long Wheel Base - batalla alargada) estará equipado exclusivamente con el motor 2.2 CRDi de 197 CV en combinación con el cambio automático de seis velocidades. Chevrolet's MyLink will be adding Siri and Ford is reportedly preparing some more updates for its MyFord Touch and My Lincoln Touch, but now Kia has announced that it will be releasing the next version of its Uvo infotainment system in the 2014 Kia Sorento and later in other Kia models including the redesigned 2014 Forte. Uvo is Kia's hands-free infotainment system, and now it will be adding a telematics "eServices" system including vehicle diagnostics, a parking location reminder for drivers and 911 Connect. Officially called Uvo eServices Infotainment System with Voice Command Navigation, this is essentially the "version 2.0" for Uvo, which came with voice recognition and hands-free control of mobile phones when it was introduced in 2010. When the 2014 Sorento goes on sale, the new Uvo will only be compatible with iPhones, but Android phones are expected to work by the second quarter. Las marcas además están haciendo su particular promoción del plan con mejoras importantes en los descuentos para conquistar al público. En este tiempo se han registrado casi 11.000 solicitudes en firme (son más las que están en tramitación y pendientes de aprobación). De este total, cinco marcas se llevan la mitad de las matriculaciones, dejando la cantidad restante para el resto de firmas. With perhaps one notable exception: this Gulf Edition Morgan 3 Wheeler. Not only does Morgan have a legitimate racing relationship with Gulf Oil in Le Mans-class racing, we just so happen to love the Morgan 3 Wheeler more than almost anything else on wheels... no matter what hue it's painted. Morgan will build 100 commemorative Gulf Edition 3 Wheeler models, with a starting price of 29,162.50 pounds (plus Value Added Tax) in the UK - that's around $46,700 US. El Audi A3 no es un modelo más para la marca de los cuatro aros. En producción desde 1996, fue la respuesta del grupo VAG a la tímida tentativa de BMW de adentrarse en el segmento de los compactos con el Serie 3 Compact. Mientras que el BMW ofrecía un diseño original (sobre todo la segunda generación), Audi proponía un diseño mucho más conservador. Lanzado al mercado en 1996, cuando el BMW era de 1993, el éxito del A3 fue tal que todas las marcas premium o semi premium se decidieron a seguirle los pasos. Incluso BMW, que había inaugurado las hostilidades, ideó un concepto diferente con el Serie 1, mientras que Mercedes se apuntó tarde a la fiesta, lo hizo este año con el nuevo Mercedes Clase A y Lexus lo hizo, cómo no, con un híbrido, el CT200h. La importancia y legitimidad del A3 en el mercado es tal, que para muchos es el verdadero instigador de este segmento puramente europeo de los compactos premium. Y es que el A3 tiene ahora muchos más rivales que en 1996. Al igual que la primera generación, esta nueva entrega sigue compartiendo plataforma con el Volkswagen Golf. Actualmente, es la famosa plataforma MQB que se esconde bajo la cuidada carrocería del A3. Esta plataforma da para todo y para todas las marcas en el seno del grupo VW, desde pequeños y compactos hasta berlinas pasando por SUV. Y es que aún no hemos visto más que una ínfima parte de los modelos que se basarán en la MQB (Audi A3, VW Golf y Seat León, de momento) . Y si el Audi A3 fue el primer modelo del grupo en beneficiarse de esta plataforma no es sólo por ser el coche que asentó las bases de los compactos premium, sino porque 1 de cada 5 Audi vendidos en el mundo es un A3. The line in question currently builds Citroën's C3 subcompact model. Negotiations are reportedly still underway, with PSA pledging to offer jobs elsewhere to about half of the Aulnay workers that stand to be laid off. Meanwhile, blood-rival Renualt has faced two work stoppages as well. Workers of at that company walked out in protest of cost-cutting measures that would seek to bring French production costs inline with those of similar operations in Spain. After its first National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash tests, the Verano can brag about its perfect Five-Star overall rating. The car received five stars in the frontal and side crash tests and four out of five for the likelihood of rolling over. The stellar results very closely match one of the Verano's closest competitors, the Acura ILX. That car also got an overall Five-Star rating but only four stars for frontal and rollover. General Motors bragged in a press release that the Verano has standard ABS, panic brake override, StabiliTrak, 10 standard airbags and a collapsible pedal system. NHTSA found the Verano's chances of rolling over at 11.3 percent, and if a rollover did occur, GM says the Verano's head curtain airbags would remain inflated longer to reduce injury. The Verano's Five-Star rating completes the Buick lineup's Top Safety rating from both NHTSA and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. That's what Frank Zauft, the most fuel-efficient driver, achieved in the first-ever "Think Blue. World Championship" competition (yes, the period's supposed to be there) that Volkswagen has conducted in the US with the Jetta Hybrid. The 402-mile rally wound from San Francisco to Santa Monica, covering both city streets and highways. Europe's biggest automaker is pushing its "Think Blue" series of events as a way to increase eco-awareness by promoting everything from more fuel-efficient cars to more energy-efficient factories. VW first showed off the Jetta Hybrid at the Detroit Auto Show in January and said the car would get a combined 45 miles per gallon while being able to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 9.0 seconds. Volkswagen said in October that the model would go on sale in the US at the end of the year with a sticker price of $24,995. The car received five stars in the frontal and side crash tests and four out of five for the likelihood of rolling over. The stellar results very closely match one of the Verano's closest competitors, the Acura ILX. That car also got an overall Five-Star rating but only four stars for frontal and rollover. General Motors bragged in a press release that the Verano has standard ABS, panic brake override, StabiliTrak, 10 standard airbags and a collapsible pedal system. NHTSA found the Verano's chances of rolling over at 11.3 percent, and if a rollover did occur, GM says the Verano's head curtain airbags would remain inflated longer to reduce injury. The Verano's Five-Star rating completes the Buick lineup's Top Safety rating from both NHTSA and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
