Pointing at the cars blindfolded? Divining rod? Tossing lawn darts? No, it's a little more complicated than that. To shed light on how Motor Trend selects its COTY, Jessi Lang gives us a glimpse into the process, describing it as "carefully organized madness." It begins with the Motor Trend staff hammering it out over minutiae, like a windshield wiper. Next, they get down to the fun part; wringing the candidates out on the track, followed by open-road testing. Motor Trend created six criteria upon which judges are able to compare cars that span different vehicle segments, price points, and purposes. These include value, safety, efficiency, advancement in design, engineering excellence and performance of intended function. There are eleven judges, including our friend Jonny Lieberman, who doesn't disappoint with his commentary, calling the Chevrolet Malibu "less of a car, and more of a collection of everything I don't like." Oh, Jonny. There was much deliberating, and passionate debate, the result of which was the selection of a single car that rose above all others. And the winner is....? Well, they kind of leave you hanging, but the video is worth watching to see how the champion is crowned. The winner will be announced this Monday, November 12 and stand alongside the magazine's already announced 2013 SUV of the Year, the Mercedes-Benz GL. Viene a ser la respuesta para el público femenino del "Vibora Negra" comercializado también en el Reino Unido. Para su desarrollo, SEAT ha partido del acabado más completo Sport y además de la pintura especial, ha añadido máscaras oscurecidas en las ópticas delanteras, llantas de aleación, volante y pomo del cambio en cuero, faros antiniebla y el Portable Media System, también de serie y en el que se incluyen datos del ordenador de viaje, navegador y multimedia. El motor elegido para la serie es el 1.0i de 75 CV con cambio manual. Su precio recomendado parte de las 11.500 libras, unos 14.388 € al cambio actual. GridNavigator, a provider of an intelligent energy management system, and Bloom General Contracting, a construction management firm, have a partnership to promote green buildings to GM dealerships throughout the US. LaFontaine is their first joint customer. A promotional video tells the story of why this established dealership brought in GridNavigator and Bloom - to make the building's energy consumption much more efficient through smart, integrated technologies, saving a whopping $60,000 a year on its energy bill and providing customers with the message that LaFontaine Automotive is a place that takes care of the environment. Customers are shown the GridNavigator display board that demonstrates how the facility's energy is managed for energy efficiency optimization. The dealership has been improved by adding LED lighting and an efficient heating and air conditioning system, as you can see in the video below. The Chevrolet Volt is shown throughout the video, though it's never once mentioned by anyone interviewed. It does suggest that making a dealership Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified and energy efficient is a logical way to market products like the Volt. It makes sales that much easier, according to Robert Halfacre, sales consultant at LaFontaine. "The sales process here at LaFontaine starts from the moment the customer walks in the front door," Halfacre says in the video. "We use this building to sell cars." Ryan LaFontaine, owner of the dealer group, appreciates the energy cost savings and how making these changes has been strengthening marketing and customer relationships. As you may recall, police began enforcing the rule last year by handing out citations with a $100 fine to anyone caught parking trucks on their property overnight. The fines could climb as high as $500. Former resident Lowell Kuvin waged an eight-year legal battle with the city to get the law repealed, but the Florida Supreme Court ruled in 2011 that the municipality had the authority to control its aesthetics. But the citizens of Coral Cables put the ordinance on this year's ballot and voted to repeal the law. While residents seemed divided on the issue, most agreed the ban now served more as a class issue than anything else. Audi ha comunicado que para el 2013 se sumará también el Q3, un todocamino de tamaño compacto que al menos por ahora se fabrica exclusivamente para todo el mundo en España. La filial india ya ensambla en Aurangabad los A4, A6 y Q5,y en los últimos meses el crecimiento experimentado en las ventas ha sido notable (+55%), superando en lo que llevamos de 2012 las obtenidas en todo el 2011 (7.273 frente a 5.511). According to the Detroit Free Press, the destruction of some 250,000 vehicles has led to a shortage that could affect late-model used-vehicle prices nationwide. They don't give much away concerning the 560-horsepower four-door 6er, but this is one of those situations where we already know everything there is to know. We're just waiting for the guilty party to officially confess. The photos show off one of the unique 20-inch wheels but not the M-specific steering wheel and shifter. We're not far away from its unveiling at the Detroit Auto Show in January, and the secrecy on BMW's part makes little sense. After all, there's a whole gallery of the car on Bimmerpost, shot at its debut at the 40 Years of M event at the Nürburgring. Cierto, un proceso de bancarrota sin ayudas habría acabado con liquidación de activos que habrían dado lugar a nuevas compañías reestructuradas de diferente manera a la que conocemos ahora, pero seguramente en su reconstrucción se habrían cerrado más fábricas y se habría despedido a más gente de la que ya de por sí se fue a la calle con la reorganización "controlada y subvencionada" de dos de las tres grandes de Detroit. Hecho: Esta intervención, en forma de inyección económica a base de préstamo a cambio de acciones va a acabar costando dinero a los estadounidenses. De ello no hay duda. El problema no está en el dinero que les va a costar, y que tanto está criticando el bando que acaba de perder las elecciones en el gigante americano. El problema real está en valorar cuánto dinero habría perdido cada ciudadano de haberse producido la hecatombe de Detroit sin un control milimétrico desde la Casa Blanca. La realidad es que sin una bancarrota controlada, las consecuencias económicas probablemente aún se notarían, y Estados Unidos no estaría creciendo como lo está haciendo ahora. O lo que es lo mismo, un 13,9% más que en el mismo mes del año pasado. La razón principal para este fortalecimiento en ventas está en China, como ya viene siendo habitual, donde los A6 L (batalla alargada) y los Q5 de producción local están resultando todo un éxito comercial. Si reducimos el análisis al mercado chino, allí la marca creció un 29,5%, compensando el crecimiento a menor ritmo de otros mercados occidentales. Pero es que hasta donde hay problemas Audi es capaz de sacar tajada. Un buen ejemplo es el mercado europeo, donde la compañía de Ingolstadt ha logrado un 4,2% de crecimiento en un mercado que se contrajo este mes de octubre. En Estados Unidos Audi creció un 14,5%, y sumando todas las cifras de todos los países, la marca de los cuatro aros ya ha vendido a estas alturas de 2012 lo mismo que en todo 2011, por lo que volverá a batir, un año más, un nuevo récord para sus libros de historia. On four different monthly updates (September, October, November and June), all in the hands of different Autoblog editors, the Countryman's clutch was called out for being too finicky, leading to many stall outs. Apparently, we weren't alone in our assessment of the Countryman's clutch woes. According to MotoringFile, Mini has updated the Countryman with a different clutch material and improved software. This much-needed change is being implemented starting this month, but Mini hasn't said what it is doing about existing 2011 and 2012 Countryman models that are afflicted with this problem. Hertz and Liberty Tire Recycling launched what they call the first nationwide tire recycling program in the US car rental industry. Hertz goes through more than 160,000 tires each year, and going forward, the used tires will be turned into something much better than landfill as they become a selection of products for playgrounds, public parks, highways and other applications. Liberty has a lot of experience recycling rubber feedstock into a wide range of products. Examples include kid-friendly playground mats and safety surfacing, composite crossties for railroad tracks and rubberized asphalt for highways that ride quieter, last longer and use much less paving material than traditional asphalt.Recycling tires folds into the Hertz Living Journey sustainability program, that covers all of its operations, products and services and community service. Adrian Hallmark, el director global de la marca, reconoce que los cambios manuales pueden ser beneficiosos para Jaguar en términos de coste y placer de conducción. Es probable que este cambio manual esté disponible con el F-Type, pero también tendría su hueco en las berlinas, como el XF. "Los deportivos necesitan un cambio manual para tener cierta credibilidad", comentó Hallmark. Sin embargo, no contemplan un XJ con cambio manual. Hallmark declaró que Jaguar está desarrollando un cambio manual con "un mínimo de 6 relaciones".
