16 Fisker Karma's verdrinken en…branden uit?! #Sandy
[...]verwante verhalenHebben! SEMA: We obsessively covered Day 1 of the 2012 SEMA Show
Filed under: SEMA Show What happens in Vegas usually stays in Vegas, but not when it concerns what goes on at the annual SEMA Show. Our team on the ground has been wading through the endless sea of shiny chrome wheels, bolt-on wings and compact coupes fitted with Lambo doors to bring you the best and brightest of what's being shown here at the annual tuner show - some straight from the aftermarket, and some direct from the manufacturers themselves. We'll have a whole 'nother helping of SEMA goodness for you tomorrow (and the tomorrow after that), but for now, have a look below at what we've managed to capture so far. SEMA: Kelderman Ford F-250 Super Duty laughs at lesser trucks
Filed under: Aftermarket, SEMA Show, Truck, Ford, Off-Road Don't be confused; for every low, fast and/or sleek looking car at the SEMA show, there is at least one towing truck or SUV. The off-road and working vehicles of the world are well represented here in Las Vegas, as typified by this Ford F-250 XLT Crew Cab by Kelderman Air Suspension Systems and Tim Nicolau Designs. The huge Super Duty diesel has between eight- and ten-inches of available lift via tricked-out suspension components and an AccuAir TouchPad air suspension management system. It can probably drive over most of the traffic in and around the Las Vegas convention center, which means we're seriously considering it for our escape vehicle later in the week. Enjoy the monstrous live image gallery, attached.Kelderman Ford F-250 Super Duty laughs at lesser trucks originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 30 Oct 2012 20:40:00 EST. SEMA: ICON Dodge D200 Reformer Series pickup is an unstoppable rebel force
Filed under: Aftermarket, SEMA Show, Classics, Truck, Dodge, Specialty, Design/Style, Off-RoadIcon 4x4 has once again made a big splash at SEMA, this time with its heavily customized 1965 Dodge D200 Crew Cab pickup built as part of its Reformer Series - old machinery with modern underpinnings. We love it. Powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins turbo-diesel inline six-cylinder engine pumping out 975 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels, courtesy of some tweaking from Banks Performance, we have a feeling there's not much that can stand in this brute's way. Having a crapton of ground clearance certainly doesn't hurt, either, thanks in no small part to a 4.5-inch Baja 1000 Chase lift kit, Fox 3.0 reservoir shocks and 37-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires. The interior wasn't left out, with seats covered in free-range American Indian Reservation sourced bison leather, plus a JL Audio subwoofer and amp, 165 KRC series mid-range speakers and tweeters to pump, pump the jams. Feel free to read more in the press release below, but not before checking out the high-res gallery of live images above.Continue reading ICON Dodge D200 Reformer Series pickup is an unstoppable rebel forceICON Dodge D200 Reformer Series pickup is an unstoppable rebel force originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 30 Oct 2012 20:21:00 EST. SEMA: Mazda brings trio of tricked-out CX-5s to Vegas
Filed under: SEMA Show, Crossover, Mazda We at Autoblog do love us some Mazda CX-5 - it is, without a doubt, the best-driving compact crossover in the segment. And since 2013 is the CX-5's first model year here in the States, it only makes sense that Mazda has used the 2012 SEMA Show to give us an idea of just how far its CX-5 can reach in terms of design and functionality. First up is the CX-5 180, ready to hit the beach with its attached Rusty surfboard or take to the slopes with a Burton Cheetah snowboard. Its blue-and-black color scheme features a topographical map graphic of southern California hot spots like Big Bear Lake and Point Dume. Other upgrades include black chrome 20-inch wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, and a new matte red finish along the grille adds a funky accent to the front fascia. Inside, aqua leather has been fitted to many of the CX-5's touchable surfaces, and there are contrasting bright white leather inserts on the door panels, seats and steering wheel. Moving on to darker tones, the CX-5 Dempsey - named for Mazda racing driver and Dr. McDreamy Patrick Dempsey - shows the first application of the automaker's 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D diesel engine on a North American-spec CX-5, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. (Well-placed foreshadowing, we hope.) Like the 180, the Dempsey CX-5 rides on dark chrome 20-inch wheels, and its paint scheme is meant to mimic the high-performance, competitive architecture of the specialized bicycle racer - cycling is one of Dempsey's big interests, after all. To that end, there's a Thule T2 carrier holding an S-Works Tarmac SL4 Red bike that features a carbon fiber frame with red highlights. Last, but certainly not least, is perhaps our favorite of the CX-5 concepts. In terms of design, anyway. The CX-5 Urban might simply look like it's painted in a matte finish, but upon closer inspection, you'll see the multi-dimensional shadows with triangular patterns woven into the paint finish. It's seriously cool, as are the extended wheel flares that house new 22-inch matte black wheels.Scroll down for the full details, and click through the attached image galleries for views of all three CX-5s from every angle.Continue reading Mazda brings trio of tricked-out CX-5s to VegasMazda brings trio of tricked-out CX-5s to Vegas originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 30 Oct 2012 20:01:00 EST. Report: What changes might green car policies see under a Romney presidency?
Filed under: EV/Plug-in, Hybrid, MPG, Legislation and Policy, USA A downward-revised Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standard and a push away from electric-drive vehicles and towards alt-fuel types such as natural gas may be some of the transportation measures in store if Mitt Romney beats Barack Obama in the US presidential election next month, Automotive News reports. A removal of tax credits for electric-vehicle buyers could also be on the table, says Hybrid Cars. Romney has repeatedly taken issue with the updated CAFE mandate that was agreed to during the first Obama term. They call for a 54.5 miles per gallon fleetwide fuel economy level by 2025 (a real-world equivalent of about 40 miles per gallon), roughly a 30-percent increase from current levels. The standards would make new vehicles too expensive for many consumers, the National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA) has said. In late August, the federal government finalized the CAFE standards for model year 2017-2025. The 54.5 miles per gallon mandate was first proposed in July 2011. Meanwhile, Romney, which hasn't detailed any alternative proposal to the CAFE standards, has suggested the federal government invest more in research and development and fewer government investments in automakers, whether they be traditional OEMs like Ford and Nissan or alt-fuel specialists like Tesla and Fisker. For more on the energy policies of Romney and Obama, read this. What changes might green car policies see under a Romney presidency? originally appeared on Autoblog Green on Tue, 30 Oct 2012 19:56:00 EST. SEMA: Fiat brings Café Racer, Beach Cruiser and Magneti Marelli samplers to SEMA
Filed under: Aftermarket, Concept Cars, SEMA Show, Budget, Hatchback, Fiat The retro-coolness of the Fiat 500 is such that it naturally lends itself to customization. So, when we first heard tell that the company was preparing a stripped-down Café Racer concept, a beach-ready 500C and a brace of Magneti Marelli cars for this year's SEMA show, our interest was piqued. Now that the curtain has dropped on the mean Cinquecento posse, we can confirm that the reality is nearly as good as our expectation lead us to believe. The Café Racer, in particular, is a pretty cool custom car. The Fiat has been stripped to the bare essentials on the inside, showing only a pair of minimal bucket seats up front as well as the typical driver controls. The racer may be slowed down a bit by the motorcycle trailer that it's toting, but considering the Abarth-badged single-cylinder bike is so cool, we'll let it pass. The 500 Beach Cruiser, with teak floor mats and roof rails and a sinister looking paintjob, we've detailed for you earlier. The two Magneti Marelli cars are still veiled in some secrecy, save that they are meant to serve as demonstrators for the company's aftermarket support.Fiat brings Café Racer, Beach Cruiser and Magneti Marelli samplers to SEMA originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 30 Oct 2012 19:41:00 EST. SEMA: 2013 Honda Accord Coupe HFP hitting dealerships next spring
Filed under: SEMA Show, Coupe, Performance, Honda The totally new 2013 Honda Accord has just now started trickling into dealerships across the country, but here at SEMA, we're already getting our first look at what the future has in store for Honda's midsize offering. Arriving in Honda showrooms next spring is this limited-edition HFP performance edition of the 2013 Accord Coupe, and although no power upgrades are on tap, there's some extra kit that will indeed make things more interesting out on the road. Honda's HFP upgrades start with visual add-ons like 19-inch alloy wheels and a rear decklid spoiler, and further changes are found underneath that sheetmetal with the addition of a unique sport suspension that lowers the car by 15 millimeters and enhances overall handling. Of course, no sporty Accord would be complete without the necessary body enhancements to the front fascia, side sills and rear bumper, and don't worry, there will be plenty of HFP badges on both the exterior and interior. Speaking of interior, the Accord HFP will have red illumination found throughout the cabin as well as - wait for it - specially branded floor mats. The HFP package is only available on Accord Coupe models fitted with the 3.5-liter V6 engine, good for 278 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque. We've already had a chance to drive a two-door Accord with this engine, and it's seriously good. The HFP add-ons should make this a truly sweet package. Only 500 of the Accord Coupe HFP models will be produced, and the whole package will be offered as a $4,650 option package, not including the cost of installation. Scroll down for the full details in Honda's press release.Continue reading 2013 Honda Accord Coupe HFP hitting dealerships next spring2013 Honda Accord Coupe HFP hitting dealerships next spring originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 30 Oct 2012 19:19:00 EST. Official: Toyota going after Town Car market with Avalon livery model
Filed under: Aftermarket, Sedan, Toyota, Specialty, Luxury Now that we've waved goodbye to the Lincoln Town Car, there's a big ol' hole in the automotive market for new livery vehicles - you know, the blacked-out hire cars frequently seen idling outside of airport terminals and hotels. Cadillac has announced that its XTS flagship will be offered with a factory livery package, and other American automakers like Chrysler and Lincoln have entered this luxury fleet segment as well. But it won't stop there. During our first drive of the 2013 Avalon, Toyota officials confirmed that the company will offer a livery edition of its new large sedan. As expected, the livery edition will have a black-on-black color scheme and will offer heated seats and individual heating and cooling controls for rear seat passengers, deleting the front heated seats in the process. (Sorry, Jeeves.) Two different Avalon livery models will be produced - a V6 model based on the XLE trim and a hybrid version based on the XLE Premium grade. With its 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, the gasoline-electric Avalon is rated at 40 miles per gallon combined. That's certainly an improvement over the old 19-mpg Town Car. Toyota spokesperson Moe Durand confirmed to Autoblog that the Avalon livery car will be available to order through the brand's entire dealer network. That said, Toyota isn't expecting huge sales numbers for its package - "500 to 1000 units in first year," says Durand. Dealers will be able to place orders for the car as early as the first week of December. XLE V6 models will start at $31,360, whereas XLE Premium Hybrid versions will start at $33,750, not including $759 for destination.Scroll down for Toyota's official press release.Continue reading Toyota going after Town Car market with Avalon livery modelToyota going after Town Car market with Avalon livery model originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 30 Oct 2012 19:00:00 EST. SEMA: Mazda MX-5 Super25 Concept lights the way to motorsports glory
Filed under: Motorsports, SEMA Show, Convertible, Coupe, Mazda, Specialty Following up on last year's MX-5 Super20 Concept, Mazda has pulled the covers off a somewhat different, though still motorsports-oriented, two-seat roadster concept. Mazda says the Super25 was created with endurance racing in mind, with a set of PIAA 40 Series halogen lamps front and center to light the way ahead, and a Sparco racing seat, harness and steering wheel keep the driver well in control. An AiM MXL data acquisition logger is set into the dash to help keep track of essential track and car data. Painted up in Mazdaspeed racing colors - black, gray and red - with Brilliant White highlights, the Super25 carries the number 55 proudly on its sides. This number is significant, as those are the digits that Mazda's historic Le Mans racer wore in 1991. Check out all the details in the press release below and the live photos above.Continue reading Mazda MX-5 Super25 Concept lights the way to motorsports gloryMazda MX-5 Super25 Concept lights the way to motorsports glory originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 30 Oct 2012 18:39:00 EST. Rumormill: Lotus and Aston Martin to hook up?
Filed under: Aston Martin, Lotus, Rumormill This has been a tumultuous year for Lotus - to say the least - from the company being sold off back in January to its CEO Dany Bahar being fired in June to its questionable financial status and rumors of the British automaker being sold off to another automaker. First, we heard that Volkswagen was interested in acquiring Lotus and parent company Proton, a rumor that was later dismissed. Now Automobile is reporting that fellow Brit Aston Martin could be in the market to work with or possibly even merge with Lotus. While this is pure speculation at this point, such a venture could prove to be beneficial for both independent companies. That's because with Lotus focused on lightweight, relatively affordable sports cars and Aston Martin producing high-end performance cars, there is virtually no product overlap between the companies. The article suggests that a person or company wanting to merge these two automakers would have to raise between $1.1 billion and $1.6 billion in order to make a go of it, however. We're not sure what to think of this latest rumor, but anything that can help get the struggling brand back to health at least has our interest.Lotus and Aston Martin to hook up? originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 30 Oct 2012 18:20:00 EST. Chevy Camaro Hot Wheels Edition is not kidding around
Filed under: Aftermarket, SEMA Show, Coupe, Performance, Chevrolet Many a lifetime of car-love has started with a single Hot Wheels model. The diecast cars gave us early access to dreamy metal that we might not otherwise ever see, along with crazy versions of vehicles that we already knew and loved. The brand offers a perfect fit for the likes of the Chevrolet Camaro, then, as the model's throwback-meets-modern looks and enthusiast driver-appeal already speak to the young at heart. Red-accented, chunky five-spoke wheels set off this rather electrically blue paintjob (it's actually called Kinetic Blue, but you get the idea), and Hot Wheels badging completes the grownup-toy vibe. The best part is that, as we reported earlier, this Hot Wheels Camaro will be a model that you can actually buy, albeit for a hefty price. Video: Toyota renames city-EV concept car the iiMo, offers euphoric future
Filed under: EV/Plug-in, Toyota, Videos Toyota apparently envisions a future with less "fun," but more happiness. Late last year, Toyota unveiled an all-electric city concept vehicle called the "Fun-Vii" and has now revealed some more details about the car at the Sao Paulo Motor Show. For one thing, the thing has been renamed the iiMo. "Future mobility life in 20XX," as Toyota puts it in the happy, nearly-five-minute video available below, means vehicle exterior and interior patterns that can be immediately customized as well as a virtual on-board "concierge," lots of navigation goodies and the ability to put the three-seater into a so-called "auto-pilot" lane with other like-minded vehicles. There's wireless recharging, natch, and drivers could even be able to compete in a "virtual circuit" videogame-like application that can be enacted behind the wheel. Of course, Toyota didn't provide any details such as single-charge range, power or price for this flight of fancy. But by the look of the beatific folks in the video, those numbers will bring smiles to all involved.Continue reading Toyota renames city-EV concept car the iiMo, offers euphoric futureToyota renames city-EV concept car the iiMo, offers euphoric future originally appeared on Autoblog Green on Tue, 30 Oct 2012 17:59:00 EST. It's so absurd that it's glorious. In addition to the racing harnesses, there's a full roll cage and a parachute to bring things back down from speed. Safety first, family man. Gallery: Cadillac ATS (Europa)Continue reading España: El Cadillac ATS, llega a los concesionarios (precios)España: El Cadillac ATS, llega a los concesionarios (precios) originally appeared on Autoblog Español on Tue, 30 Oct 2012 17:10:00 EST. Video: Jaguar plays up sound differences between V6 and V8 F-Type
Filed under: Convertible, Performance, Videos, Jaguar, Luxury If you've found yourself on the fence between a 2013 Jaguar F-Type powered by a supercharged V6 or the model with a more potent supercharged V8, we have just the thing for you. Jaguar has worked up a quick 30-second video with little more than audio from the two convertibles. On the first pass, viewers get an earful of that blown 3.0-liter V6 at full whine, though there's no telling whether the machine packs 340 horsepower or the 380 hp found in the middle-child F-Type S. Either way, there's no denying just how potent the newest member of the Jaguar family sounds. And then there's that supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with its 495 horses. At wide-open throttle, the machine sounds like it's hell-bent on sucking down the world one yellow line at a time. Check it out in Jag's video below. Just make sure you turn up the volume.Continue reading Jaguar plays up sound differences between V6 and V8 F-TypeJaguar plays up sound differences between V6 and V8 F-Type originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 30 Oct 2012 16:57:00 EST. Report: Kia mulling Forte production in US?
Filed under: Sedan, Plants/Manufacturing, Kia Since we already know what the 2014 Kia Forte will look like courtesy of the Kia K3 and Cerato, the big news at the car's official debut at the LA Auto Show could end up being where the car is built. Reuters is reporting that Kia is considering building the all-new Forte in the US, and while it didn't say which plant, we'd venture to guess the redesigned compact will be built alongside its sister car, the Hyundai Elantra, in Montgomery, Alabama. This report is even more credible following an article in Bloomberg that indicates that labor disputes and union strikes in South Korea affected Kia's third-quarter profits and stock prices. The strike lasted from July through September, and it ended up costing Kia output of about 63,000 vehicles and resulted in a decrease in exports by 9.2 percent. Currently, 62 percent of Kia's production takes place in South Korea, and moving to non-union plants (such as those in the US) could help diversify output and avoid such impacting consequences in the future. If true, this could make the Forte the third Kia model made in the USA following the Sorento and Optima that are both built right up I-85 from the Elantra in West Point, Georgia.Kia mulling Forte production in US? originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 30 Oct 2012 16:20:00 EST. In welke auto vervoer je de duurste teef ter wereld?
Pardon? SEMA: Chevy Camaro Hot Wheels Edition is not kidding around
