Y lo hace con muy pocos cambios estéticos, a la espera de un salto generacional "dentro de poco tiempo", tal vez dentro de dos o tres años, junto con la llegada del sustituto del Gallardo a Lamborghini. Pero centrándonos en el "ahora", el nuevo R8 se nos presenta con nuevos paragolpes delante y detrás. | Posted: 24 Jul 2012 11:33 PM PDT  Mazda se deja de teasers y nos enseña el nuevo Mazda6 Filed under: Mazda, Sedanes y berlinasPincha la imagen para ver la galería Mazda ha decidido poner fin a los vídeo-teasers que venía mostrándonos del nuevo Mazda6, y ha publicado cuatro fotos en alta resolución con las que poder descubrir que, tal y como preveíamos, su nuevo sedán es prácticamente idéntico al Takeri conceptual. Y eso es una muy buena noticia, pues el nuevo seis luce una mezcla inteligente entre deportividad y diseño técnico de calidad. Los grupos ópticos siguen la tendencia iniciada por el Mazda5, integrándose dentro de las formas que continúan la enorme calandra de la casa de Hirosima, aunque dadas las tendencias actuales nos sorprende no ver más tecnología LED por los cuatro costados. Sea como sea nos gusta. Lo veremos en vivo en el Salón de París de este mes de septiembre antes de llegar al mercado, donde aterrizará con las mecánicas Sky en gasolina y diésel, y una versión con supercapacitador para conformar un híbrido interesante. Auto Shows Just hours ago, a high-resolution teaser shot of the 2014 Mazda6 leaked onto the internet, giving us a very clear glimpse of the new sedan's front fascia. Not to be outdone, Mazda has responded by releasing three more high-res images of the new car, which we've learned will officially debut at the 2012 Moscow Auto Show next month. After looking at the new quartet of images, along with the series of teaser videos - all one, two, three, four of them - there's little to be left to the imagination when it comes to the design of Mazda's rakish new sedan. From what we can see so far, this thing looks mighty handsome. The company's new Kodo design language is certainly flaunting its stuff here, with a more aggressive front fascia and upswept profile line that, like the CX-5, gives the car the impression of being "up on its haunches," as one Mazda representative described it to us once. Right now, all we know is that Mazda plans to debut its new midsize sedan with a 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G gasoline four-cylinder, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Japanese automaker has also stated that the 2014 Mazda6 will feature the company's new i-ELOOP (short for Intelligent Energy Loop) capacitor-based regenerative braking system that will, according to Mazda, "improve economy by up to 10 percent." Following the Russian-spec car's debut on August 29, the rest of the world will have to wait until the Paris Motor Show in late September to see exactly what's in store for each individual market. Since that time, the automaker has kept the two-seat sports car fresh with several changes including the addition of the roofless Spyder, an optional V10 and the sportier GT model, but now Audi has determined that it's finally time for the model's first full-on refresh. Today, Audi revealed the revamped 2013 R8 lineup, highlighted by subtle styling changes, a seven-speed S-tronic transmission (no more dreadful R-tronic!) and a new flagship V10 Plus model. It takes a keen eye to pick out the design changes to the new R8, the most prominent being the redesigned LED headlights and taillights that come standard on all models. Audi has also revised the front bumper and grille, and out back, there's a larger diffuser and new circular tailpipes.Perhaps the biggest change to the R8 for 2013 is the addition of the new seven-speed S-tronic transmission that utilizes two mult-plate clutches. Each clutch engages with two independent sub-transmissions and alternately select gears, resulting in smoother shifts that take mere hundredths of as second. Thankfully, a six-speed manual is still offered, although Audi claims that the car equipped with the S-tronic is actually faster to 60 miles per hour by three-tenths of a second in all models. A new R8 V10 Plus arrives at the flagship model, featuring the same carbon fiber reinforced plastic used on the R8 GT. The front splitter, mirrors, side blades, rear diffuser and lining for the engine compartment are all constructed of the lightweight material. The 5.2-liter V10 has also been slightly improved compared to the standard V10 model, producing 550 horsepower and 398 pound-feet torque. European models will start rolling off the line at the end of this year, and while Audi has not mentioned U.S. availability or pricing, we expect our version of the R8 to follow very shortly thereafter. After all, if the internet is good for anything, it's freaking us the hell out. A Czech artist in London has crafted a unique tribute to the 2012 Olympic Games by building a double-decker bus with massive human arms. The machine is cursed to a life of doing push-ups for the rest of eternity by its creator David Cerny, who says he chose the exercise because it is common to all sports and every athlete from every walk of life. As if seeing a double-decker bus with human limbs isn't disturbing enough, the 1957 people-mover moans in exertion with every press. We'll be seeing this one in our nightmares. You, however, can check it out in the video below. Equipped with the 1.2-liter engine and five-speed manual, the smallest Chevy in history gets 32 miles per gallon in the city, 38 on the highway for a combined EPA number of 34 mpg. Not bad, but not what we and, presumably, Chevy, were hoping for. Add the optional automatic transmission, and the numbers drop to 28 city, 37 highway and a combined number of 32 mpg. When we first saw the Spark at the Geneva show in 2009, the Spark was expected to get a combined number of 47 mpg, though that may have been forecasting a European rating. With its small size and small, 1.2 liter, 85 hp engine, it's easy to think of the Spark as super efficient. The similarly-sized Smart ForTwo gets a combined EPA number of 36 mpg, while the larger Hyundai Accent gets 34 as well. In fact, the Spark's larger stablemates, the Cruze Eco and Sonic, can do almost as well if properly equipped. Both cars gets a combined 33 mpg with the turbocharged 1.4 liter and manual six-speed transmission. The Sonic even breaks the 40-mpg barrier in highway driving and the Cruze Eco gets an even better 42. The moral of this story? Looks like a sixth gear makes a huge difference in fuel economy. What makes this latest batch of photos significant is that the new pickup's redesigned interior was caught completely undisguised. From what we can tell, the full-size truck will mark a return of the full-length chrome grille bar, missing from the previous Silverado, but present on models older than 2007. Other than that, the exterior is largely camouflaged, including an oval piece in the center of the grille, likely placed by a Chevy engineer with a sense of humor. The big story here is on the inside, where the center stack gets a refined layout and finish compared to the current model. Atop the center unit is what looks to be a high resolution screen. Below it is a set of preset buttons and very straightforward audio controls. Between the audio and climate controls is an inlet for CD, which means the Silverado will not follow the lead of the Spark, which will be the first car on the market offered without a CD player. There are also controls for what appear to be heated and cooled front seats, as well as a row of interesting toggles at the bottom, likely controlling all sorts of sensors and electronic wizardry. Detroit's significance to the history of the automobile is inarguable, and that makes it the only metropolis in America that we care to note when another candle is added to its cake. Today, the town that's known as both the Motor City and Motown celebrates its 311th birthday. It was founded on July 24, 1701 by French explorer Antoine de la Mothe, sieur de Cadillac, whose name was later immortalized as General Motors' luxury car brand. What began as a French fort and fur-trading settlement grew to become this country's hub of manufacturing in the 20th century, but now Detroit finds itself in a process of recalibration. The globalization of the auto industry has deflated the city's population to its lowest level in 100 years - some 713,777 inhabitants - down from a high of 1.85 million in 1950. Where it goes from here is up for debate, but we don't expect its identity as America's, if not the world's, Motor City to be threatened any time soon. De momento la firma ha vuelto a mostrar un teaser que adelanta cómo será su frontal, muy en la línea de sus últimos modelos. El nuevo polivalente será presentado oficialmente el próximo mes de septiembre y ya en octubre se iniciarán las ventas. Se fabricarán unas 150.000 unidades anuales en las nuevas instalaciones de Piracicaba y tras el hatchback llegarán un sedán y un crossover. La oferta de motores estará formada por un 1.0i como escalón de acceso y un 1.6i como tope, este último con posibilidad de cambio automático. En cuanto a seguridad, sabemos que de serie llevarán doble airbag, si bien el ABS formará parte del equipo opcional. It's common for any global car to include regional tuning ranging from ride harshness to acceleration expectations. Judging by the photos released, the right-hand drive Malibu looks nearly identical to the American Chevrolet version. Hopefully, Australians will have to adjust to the power button on the stereo being in the wrong place, something Americans had to deal with when the Holden Commodore arrived on U.S. shores as the Pontiac G8. The second line, which will start production by the end of 2013, will make 50,000 vehicles a year. Honda is investing 350 million Malaysian ringgit ($110 million U.S. at current exchange rates) in the line. Last year, Honda, which currently imports its Jazz Hybrids to Malaysia from Japan, sold 4,600 hybrids in Malaysia. This year, the automaker plans to sell 10,000 hybrids there. The do-all powerplant has found its way into a just about any Chrysler Group vehicle with an engine bay to accept it. Jeep and Journey alike have enjoyed the benefits of the dual-overhead cam 3.6-liter mill. Chrysler is pondering an investment of $200 million into its Detroit Mack I facility to increase Pentastar production. Meanwhile, Chrysler plans to halt production of the aging 3.7-liter V6 at the Mack II facility. The 200 employees that were laid off by the idling of Mack II will be reemployed at other Chrysler Group facilities in the area. According to the Automotive News report, if an agreement can be reached with the local government, the Mack I plant would switch over from producing the 4.7-liter V8 to the popular 3.6-liter Pentastar engine. Currently, the Pentastar is also produced in Trenton, Michigan, and Saltillo, Mexico. If the proposal was approved, Chrysler will not only produce the 3.6-liter version of the Pentastar, but also intends on building variants with different displacements. Continuando con el rumor, se especula que la denominación final para este tope de gama sería Omega, un nombre que tiene buena reputación en los principales mercados europeos. Parece que para este modelo se podrían emplear los últimos bloques de 3,6 litros y seis cilindros de inyección directa ya vistos en otros productos de GM, además del diésel con doble turbo y 195 CV de potencia. Este hito les ha costado 76 años y 11 meses. Todo empezó en agosto de 1935 con la fabricación del camión G1 por la división de automoción de la Toyoda Automatic Loom Works Ltd, que más tarde se convertiría en Toyota Motor Corporation. En 1936, empezó la fabricación del primer coche por Toyota, era el sedán AA. Éste a diferencia de otras marcas niponas, fue un coche de producción propia y no una licencia de un modelo occidental. Al parecer sólo existe una unidad original de AA, expuesta en el museo Louwman, en Holanda A finales de junio, la producción acumulada de Toyota en Japón alcanzó la cifra de 145,21 millones de vehículos fabricados, mientras que fuera del archipiélago, la cifra fue de 55,12 millones. Si nos centramos en Europa, veremos que la cifra acumulada ha sido de 7,44 millones de unidades, a finales de 2011. Toyota posee en Europa plantas en Francia, Portugal, Rusia y Turquía, así como en el Reino Unido y en la República Checa. Actualmente, Toyota emplea a unas 300.000 personas en todo el mundo.
