| Posted: 15 Jun 2012 01:07 AM PDT  Le Mans 2012: Audi logra la pole con el R18 e-tron #1 Filed under: Audi, Competición Andre Lotterer hizo ayer por la noche historia al lograr la primera pole para un coche híbrido en las 24 Horas de Le Mans. Tal y como te contamos aquí en directo, el piloto del Audi número uno se quedó con un crono de 3:23.787 para proclamarse como el piloto más rápido en la noche de La Sarthe. Lotterer demostró además que los R18 e-tron sobre asfalto seco son más efectivos que sus hermanos no híbridos. Pero no fue por mucho, pues el coche número #3, el de Gene, Duval y Dumas, se quedó con un 3:24.0 en segunda posición, logrando completar una primera línea "todo Audi". Con un 3:24.8 se clasificó el Toyota #8, completando el trio de cabeza más variado en mucho tiempo. | Posted: 14 Jun 2012 05:20 PM PDT  New Chevy Volt ads again emphasize "Happiest Drivers on the planet" Filed under: EV/Plug-in, Green Culture, Hybrid, Chevrolet, Videos Looks like the first two "happy Volt" owner commercials were a success. We assume this because General Motors has now released another half-dozen similar ads for the Chevrolet Volt. Every last one continues the pleasant, peppy vibe that once told us how the plug-in hybrid can save us "a crapload of money." The latest batch of commercials all show the car with an owner against a white backdrop. What's different than before is that the ads don't feature just one owner anymore (as the Priya and Adam ads did back in March). Instead, the new ads tackle a theme, discussing things like "gas stations," "speed" and "true love" (no, we're not kidding) and how that relates to driving a Volt. There's even a commercial with people bragging about their VINs. Unquestionably enthusiastic, it's also a little odd to see a car company emphasize that particular aspect of car ownership. But if it works... You can see all eight of the new ads below. After you watch then, let us know how do you think these compare to other Volt ads, like the zombie one, or ads like the one featuring the polar bear for the Nissan Leaf? Filed under: Cadillac, Sedanes y berlinasCadillac está determinada a tener un gran buque insignia por encima del XTS para competir con lo más florido de Europa, y el nombre de este misterioso modelo podría ser LTS. La revista Car & Driver ha descubierto esta denominación mientras escarbaba en la oficina de marcas y patentes de Estados Unidos, y dado que Cadillac tiende a usar los nombres que registra, este bien podría ser el escogido para su futuro tope de gama. Según los rumores, este supuesto LTS sería mucho más que una gran berlina premium de tracción trasera. Aunque ni siquiera existe todavía en forma de mula de pruebas, el LTS no apuntaría únicamente a los modelos más caros y lujosos de las tres grandes marcas alemanas, sino también a las británicas, ofreciendo espacio y potencia en dosis superlativas. Así las cosas, sucesor del todavía novísimo XTS (hazte a la idea de los plazos de los que estamos hablando) quedaría situado entre lo que sería un Serie 5 y un Serie 7, mientras que el XTS superaría al Serie 7 de batalla alargada, así que como mínimo debería rondar las dimensiones del desaparecido DTS. That's the date of the Daytona 500, and depending on which side of the equator you call home it will also mark the introduction of the Chevrolet SS Performance or Holden VF Commodore. Melbourne, Australia newspaper The Age said that when General Motors decided to launch the 'production' version of its 2013 NASCAR challenger at Daytona, Holden's managing director took a quick survey and then decided to launch the Commodore in Oz on the same day so as not to slight the home team. We only hope the SS can live up to the expectations being heaped on it, and it is already burdened with the failure of the last Aussie import experiment. The rear-drive, V8 sedan's status as "limited production" should help Chevrolet manage its reception - import numbers have been pegged in the thousands and Holden's managing director said demand would exceed supply - and if it's a typical Holden production we won't have to worry about it being good. According to the good folks at Wikipedia, a double entendre is a figure of speech in which a spoken phrase is devised to be understood in either of two ways. Often the first (more obvious) meaning is straightforward, while the second meaning is less so: often risqué or ironic. In case you weren't aware, International Ride to Work Day is coming up on June 18, 2012. The cheeky blokes from the UK decided to spice things up a bit (risqué it is, then...) by producing the video you'll see below. We like it. Comercializado en China desde hace más de 25 años, este sedán ya cuenta con un relevo mucho más moderno, seguro y eficiente. La alianza FAW-VW ha creído oportuno sustituirlo por el Polo Sedán/Vento que ya se comercializa en otros países como Rusia. En China se denominará Jetta NF y será ensamblado en las instalaciones de Chengdu. En este 2012 sólo se producirán unas 13.000 unidades, para ya en 2013 elevar la cifra hasta las 270.000. Los motores disponibles serán los conocidos 1.4 y 1.6 MPI, este último con cambio automático en opción. Talk about short shelf life. Just as McLaren has recently done with the MP4-12C, upgrading the car shortly after start of deliveries by getting it even closer to exactly what they and their clients had in mind, AMG has added 20 horsepower to the sexy gullwing rig, which now reaches 583 horsepower at 6,800 rpm. Beyond that, a more rigid setup for the springs and dampers that form the AMG Adaptive Performance Suspension has been applied to the chassis, the seven-speed AMG dual-clutch transmission has had its ECU software livened up, there is more natural exhaust roar and the 6.2-liter V8's responses have been beefed up with throttle calibration changes, injection mapping upgrades and work done on the exhaust system.
