Como puedes ver en el gráfico, Maserati buscará sus ventas de 50.000 unidades anuales a través de la integración en nuevos segmentos, y un escalado general hacia abajo de sus productos. El nuevo Quattroporte se ofrecerá con más mecánicas. Además del V8 que probamos el otro día, habrá versiones por debajo de los 90.000€ articuladas con motores V6 gasolina y V6 diésel. Estimates place the cost of the settlement between $1.1 billion and $1.4 billion, which would, according to lawyers for the plaintiffs, make it the largest of its type in US history. U.S. District Judge James Selna, who is presiding over the case in California, will review Toyota's settlement proposal as early as Friday. The details of the settlement, as given by Toyota in an official statement and obtained from a press release issued by lawyers for the plaintiffs, are as follows. Toyota will install brake override systems in all 3.25 million vehicles subjected to the floor mat entrapment recall. A fund of $250 million will compensate former Toyota owners who sold their cars from September 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010 for lost value. Another fund of $250 million will compensate current owners whose vehicles are not eligible for the free brake override system. All 16 million current Toyota owners will be eligible for a customer care plan that warrants certain parts allegedly related to unintended acceleration for three to 10 years. Education grants valued at $30 million will be made to independant academic institutions to further study auto safety and enhance driver education. As mentioned above, the settlement relates only to claims of economic loss, and thus does not cover wrongful death claims, the first trail for which is slated to begin in February 2013. The family home, friends and even his father's prize Peugeot convertible were all abandoned in the hope that the Paganis could find a safer future for themselves. Vensio cultivated a passion for restoring period vehicles over the intervening 70 years, and happened to spot a vintage Peugeot just like his father's at a swap meet. The car was in pieces and badly in need of restoration, but Vensio drug it back to his shop and began rebuilding the car from the ground up. It wasn't until he cleaned off the frame that he noticed something special. After scratching back the rust, grime and paint of seven decades, Vensio discovered that the serial number of the car he purchased matched his father's - amazingly, he had found his dad's long-lost Peugeot. In August, Ford said the C-Max Hybrid gets a clean 47 miles per gallon in all three categories (city/highway/combined). The Fusion got the same grades. The lawsuit, which was filed earlier this month in US District Court in the Eastern District of California, claims that the marketing campaign Ford is using to promote the fuel economy for those two models is "false and misleading." Ford also used "misrepresentations and omissions" to promote the cars, says the claim. What's interesting here - and in the Hyundai/Kia MPG situation - is that the EPA signs off on these numbers, even if the agency doesn't test the vehicles itself. Independent tests of the two cars, both by private citizens and Consumer Reports, showed that the vehicles aren't quite hitting those numbers (only getting around 37-39 mpg) in real-world situations. Just as Hyundai is reimbursing customers, the plaintiff in the case, Richard Pitkin from California, says he wants money from Ford, and that other owners should get some, too. The same law firm, McCuneWright, is the one suing Hyundai. Ford told Automotive News it cannot discuss pending litigation. We'll let the lawsuit determine if Ford's ads are misleading. Lifted Jeep Wrangler creations climb out of mountainous regions like Moab, while low-riders flow from the massive urban sprawl of Los Angeles. The vehicle you see above is no different. Dubbed the "Snowareg," it is a creation by Volkswagen of Sweden, and is perfectly suited for harsh Swedish winters. Based on a Touareg V8 TDI, the Snowareg sends 340 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque to a modified set of treads at each wheel. Very little information is given outside of that, but from what we can tell from these photos, anyone lucky to venture into the elements with the Snowareg will be doing so in style. It appears to come with the full bevy of VW options, including Dynaudio stereo, panoramic moonroof, dual-zone climate control and (of course) heated seats. | Posted: 26 Dec 2012 03:45 PM PST Mercedes-Benz CLA revealed via diecast model Filed under: Sedan, Mercedes-Benz, Toys/Games, Luxury Having already seen the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class sitting out in the open fully exposed, in what appear to be leaked press pictures and even some official "spy" shots straight from Mercedes-Benz, we weren't sure how much more of the car we could see before its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in a couple weeks. Now we know... Indian Autos Blog now has some images of a diecast model showing a scaled-down look at the car in full production form, and while we don't know what company produced this model, it is very highly detailed. While the recent alleged press shots show what appear to be either a thinly disguised concept car or the CLA45 AMG, these shots of the 1:18 scale diecast are likely are best shots yet of the car in its base form. Pay close attention to the less flashy fascias and wheels, and, more importantly, the detailed look at the inside of the car. The California-based electric vehicle company has installed the first East Coast fast-charging stations, allowing Model S owners to make the 450-mile trek between Boston and Washington DC without worrying about having sufficient juice. Last week, Tesla added two fast-charging stations: one in Wilmington, DE, which is about 30 miles southwest of Philadelphia, and the other in Milford, CT, which is slightly southwest of the halfway point between New York City and Boston, the New York Times reports. Both 480-volt stations are at rest stops along I-95. Granted, only Tesla Model S owners will be able to celebrate, as the stations are built specifically for those vehicles and can't be used for, say, a Nissan Leaf or even a Tesla Roadster. That said, the stations can add 150 miles or range, or more than half the 265-mile single-charge range of a Model S with an 85-kw battery pack, in about 30 minutes. That's just enough time to knock down a waffle sundae from Friendly's, actually. In October, Tesla had its official "Supercharging Day," in which the company opened its first six fast chargers in the Western US. The complete package stations come with solar panels to power the cars, and cost around $250,000 to install. According to a recent study of 5,000 quotes conducted by Onlineautoinsurance.com (OAI), auto insurance quotes for men are still about 23 percent pricier than women's on average. Plus, if a man and a woman with the identical driver profiles (same driving record, age and vehicle) received quotes for the same coverage, the man's quote would be more expensive 62 percent of the time. As expected, it was young men (under 25) who paid the brunt of the cost, with an average premium of $676 more than their young female counterparts when the quotes differed - keep in mind that men and women were offered the identical premiums 27 percent of the time and women were quoted higher in 11 percent of the cases. While figuring out why men often pay more still isn't completely clear, experts cite statistics showing that men and women drive differently. Not only do men spend more time behind the wheel (they drive about 1.5 times as many miles), but they are more likely to violate laws for speeding, yielding and passing. Plus, they take more risks (males were involved in 1.25 million more crashes in 2010). Interestingly enough, courts in the European Union have decided that "differences in insurance pricing based purely on a person's sex are discriminatory;" a new Gender Directive is officially in effect and it will change premiums for policyholders. The US is unlikely to follow its lead, as insurance companies in the States are typically allowed to use rating factors (those that correlate with actual risk), despite the obvious controversy. To celebrate, the team took its newest creation down to Mugello for a quick sprint around the track ahead of its date with the World Superbike Championship. Factory riders Carlos Checa and Ayrton Badovini have put in plenty of hours on the saddle during development in an effort to fine tune the bike before making their official competition debut at Phillip Island early next year. We'll have to wait and see if it has paid off. The race-only bike has stripped off as much weight as possible thanks in part to the fact that WSBK organizers have repealed the weight limit for V-twin powered bikes. Previously, the 1098R Superbike had to carry nearly 14 pounds of weight ballast to offset the 200cc displacement advantage the V-twin had over its four-cylinder rivals. According to The Detroit News, American Suzuki Motor Corp. will import an additional 2,500 vehicles to quench demand that has jumped since the company announced that it was filing for bankruptcy and ending sales in America. Dealers recently informed their sales personnel that no more vehicles would be produced and that this was the final push. With heavy incentives and a seven-year warranty as value-adds, November sales for Suzuki rose in November some 22 percent, up to 2,224 vehicles. December sales also rose, but neither month's gains outweigh the long-term losses for the automaker. While Suzuki will sell roughly 22,000 cars this year in the US, it was selling about 120,000 annually before 2008. As it stands, Suzuki will sell off the rest of its vehicle inventory, including the 2,500 additional units, and dealers will continue to provide parts an warranty work. Y es que con el desplome acumulado en estos días de diciembre del 27% parece imposible alcanzar la ya de por si escasa barrera de las 700.000 unidades. Según los datos de la consultora MSI el último mes del año cerrará con una cifra cercana a las 49.000 unidades, que una vez sumadas al total hasta noviembre se quedarían en 698.000 unidades, es decir, un 13,7% menos que en 2011. California-based Fisker, which at one time planned to open a factory in Delaware for production of the Atlantic plug-in hybrid by the end of this year, could owe the state $21.5 million (in the form of a repaid grant and loan) if those plans never materialize, Delaware Online reports. Fisker, which had said the plant would employ about 2,500 workers at the factory, would owe $12.5 million if the automaker hires between 1,500 and 2,500 people, and another $9 million if Fisker doesn't hit the 1,500-worker quota. The latest news is that Fisker could start production on the Atlantic in 2014 or 2015, but where and when, exactly, has not yet been announced. Either way, Fisker's obligation to Delaware would fall behind the approximately $200 million Fisker would owe the US government, part of a Department of Energy loan that was initially slated for $529 million had Fisker hit certain production deadlines and targets for its Karma model. As it is, Fisker production is frozen while bankrupt battery supplier A123 Systems clears up its ownership situation. Earlier this month, the China-based Wanxiang Group reached an agreement through the Delaware bankruptcy court to buy A123 Systems, though that agreement's being scrutinized by some members of Congress over the potential leakage of US trade secrets to China. That was the 4/4, and although it's been joined by seven other models, it is still being made today. The Plus 8 is one of those other models, and the Telegraph sent a crew to watch it being made. An eight-cylinder version of the Plus 4 (the Plus 4 has a larger four-cylinder engine than the 4/4), it takes 30 days to produce each sample - hand-fashioning the wooden body in the image above is just one reason why.
